We've been talking about having a picnic in San Antonio this summer, and as the time approaches, I'd like to set a date so we can make this happen. The weekend of June 25th sounds like a good date, since everything will be too crowded for the 4th of July. What do you guys think? Everyone interested in joining this picnic, please respond! Dani and Saul. |

bumpitty bump... |
Sounds like a good time to me, but I'm nearly 2000 miles away by the route I'd take
So I guess I won't be there.... |
I was looking forward to see you there Ron.... |
That sounds good for me. I have the 24, 25 & 26th off. |
Sorry - I would love to attend a sheepie picnic but San Antonio is 983 miles from here, and that's too long a drive for a weekend . The Southwest is just so darned BIG! |
Awww, come on . 983 miles at 60 miles an hour is only 16plus hours in a vehicle with a sheepie. That just makes it more fun!
Actually, I understand. |
For us will be about 8/10 hours from El Paso... With 2 sheepies in a New Beetle, we better brace ourselves!!!!
BTW... Has anyone seen Stormi? |
In a Beetle? Do you have a trailer ? |
Nope . Since it's only Danita and me for now, we collapse the back seat and the car turns into a cute station wagon for two (They look tiny, but they have lots of space!!). Add a baby gate so they don't jump to the front seat and there's plenty of space for everyone |
Hi Saul and Dani!!!
Sorry, it has taken me so long to respond, we have a lot on our plates at the moment. My husband isn't on vacation until the 29th of June and he goes back the 6th of July. That is also contingent on the strike notice. He works for a tire company here, that is a union plant. They have worked for 2 years without a new contract and the union is in the process of calling it quits and striking, if that is the case, we couldn't afford to drive down. On top of all of that, my Grandmother, has taken a turn for the worst. She has advanced ahlzeimers/dementia, and the medication just isn't working anymore. My family and I are at odds at what should be done. The good news surrounding our family is after 5 days of no sleep waiting for kittens, Marie and Berlioz became proud parents of 5 healthy babies. One was starting to take a turn for the worst, but he has turned it around and is gaining grams again. We believe we have 1 girl and 4 boys. The other good news is we had a cat show last weekend and took our 7 month old Kiara. She went through 6 rings, and she won best of color in all 6 rings, and placed 3rd best in division of the longhair kitten division. She got enough points to champion, but didn't final. So hopefully her next show she will final for us!! Also, more unrelated sheepie stuff, the kids are out of school in less than 20 days, and we found out kindergarden will only be half day not full day!!!! Hooray!! I wasn't wanting to see my 5 year old be gone from me for so long, so that was more good news for us. Jack just got his bath, and is half done and half not, I decided the forum would be a nice place to take a break and let you know why I have dissapeared. We will still try to change the situation so that we can still go, but it isnt' looking as promising as I would like. I will keep you updated. Oh, and you have my favorite car!!! I really want an older beetle though, as I want to redo it myself, I have it all planned out in my head what it looks like. LOL I am a minivan Momma and couldn't see us all fitting in a beetle.....LOL Well, Jack's coat awaits me.... Stormi and co. |
San Antonio, eh? Well - if I drive, it'll only take a day or two to get us there from NJ. If Dudley drives, it could take weeks! We reached a top driving speed tonight at 18 mph. See photo: http://www.neddc.org/ktrides2.jpg ~Katie & Dudley. |
Maybe Ron could fire up the motor home and pick up ALL US northeasterners and our sheepies and drive down HEHEHEHEHEHE |
Asking Ron to give everyone a ride sounds like a great idea
Sorry to hear about your Grandmother, Stormi, we send our wishes that everything turns out for the best. I see that you have too many things on your plate right now, and without you, Callet and Us would be very lonely , but we understand. Maybe we can reschedule this picnic for a later date, since I haven't seen a lot of southwest sheepies and I'm really, really looking forward to meet Caullet's Family and Stormi's gang. What do you think?? |
This Beetle I "PhotoChopped" for danita will cheer your day up, Stormi!
We call a beetle "BOCHO" in mexico as a cute nickname, so I present Danita's Dream Car: bochOES: I just love it... I wish I won the lottery so we could own one like this one. |
Excluding June 8th-10th I'm pretty flexible until early August, that' when Cheerleader practice will start up again, and our kids usually start school the 2nd or 3rd week of August. I'm all for trying to get as many sheepies together as possible. Just let us know! |
Speaking of Sheepies and VW's...We are members of the VW club here in Tulsa, Brent has a 1998 TDI and I have a 1972 Super Beetle. We drove his is the BooHaHa parade last year (Halloween parade the club participates in)- with both of our sheepers in the back- with the back seats down, it's amazing how much room there is in the back. Certainly enough for 170 lbs of sheepdog ) Needless to say they were a hit!
BTW- we will not be able to attend the picnic in SA- Hope you all have a great time! Cindy & The Monsters |
YAY!!!
My birthday is that weekend (weekend of the25th), and we were talking about heading down to Dallas anyway, so I'll have to talk to Mr. J about going to a sheepiefest. Sounds like fun, and we would LOVE to meet other Sheepies from this board. This dang keyboard doesn't work (spacebar is apain). I'm home in TX right now preparing our big weddingthis Sat. LOTS of stress. hehehe |
