Teeth brushing

How often do you do it? How do you do it? I don't think that we do enough. I have seen some dental rinse products, too. I wish there were a doggy dentist here that I could consult. Nothing wrong with Mady's teeth, I just want to make sure it stays that way.

I have never been told by anyone how often to brush a dogs teeth either, you would think that is something a vet should tell you.?....but maybe not, because they want to put your dog to sleep, clean their teeth and then charge you lots of money!!!

Well, I usually brush Millie's teeth once a week and she chews on her nylabone every day. Her teeth look great,...but she is only 11 months old. :lmt:

Once a week, plus she gets those dental chew things. But maybe we should do it daily?
I don't do it near enough...and all my dogs really love it. :?
I would think daily would be best, because I know how mine feel if I go a whole day.

Mine all tolerate the finger cot ones best - but not the actual toothbrushes. It's hard to control and if you bang or gouge at all, they are not going to like it.
My senior guys have bad teeth, removed teeth and tender gums. No way will they do a toothbrush, but they are great with the finger brushes. They all stand in line.... me next, me next!
Friend with 2 oes brushes them every night! The dogs line up in the bathroom. She does her teeth and then each of the dog's. They love the attention and the chicken flavored toothpaste.
When I had Ben, my vet told me that 3 times a week was fine but everyday was okay if I wanted to do that. I haven't started brushing Teddy's yet but it's only been a short time since he's had all his teeth!......lol I suppose I should get him used to it. He's a big chewer right now so it's probably not urgent that I start other than training him to accept it.

Summer doesnt mind, but yorkie has such a tiny mouth I have to do hers just with my finger, and they need vet cleaning! That toothpaste from the vets though must taste nice they digest more than I use!
Ryleigh also loves having her teeth brushed. She sits and waits while I brush mine, then lets me brush hers (with her tooth brush of corse)
She loves it. If I try walking out with out brushing hers she sits and barks.
I use the dental wipes from Fosters and Smith. The older one won't let me go near him but the younger one does....every night. The big one comes over to sniff around to see what we're doing but then runs away
Hmm, dental wipes. I wonder if they would work better than the toothbrush? I feel like we aren't getting everywhere.
I have the finger tootbrush. I like the dental wipes better. I was always afraid the finger toothbrush would come off and they would swallow it 8O I like the dental wipes. They come in a small cannister, about 60 of them in one cannister. I love them...

I must have wider fingers. That little brush is on for keeps, I have to peel it off inside out!
