Here's another suggestion.
I trained one of my dogs with newspaper. The area of the home he usually stayed BPT (Before Potty Training) had lino and I placed newspaper down in one area in case he had to go and I missed the cue. I read in a book some time ago as he's now 12..anyway the book suggested this method. It suggested that you pick up the urine soaked newspaper and place it in an area of your yard that you want your dog to always "go". The dog will smell the urine on the newspaper and will go in that location. Only took 2-3 times of doing this and happy to announce that in all of 12 years Blue has never gone in the house but always in the same spot in the yard. Makes for easy cleanup. Now for a bit of humor....I painted a pic of Winnie the Pooh and stragically placed a wooden sign in that area and called it ...what else..but Pooh Corner. Ha! Ha! |
Pooh Corner! ROFL....
I LIKE it... |
we probably took Watson out more than needed but we noticed that if we waited too long, he would have a mistake. therefore, it was usually our fault not his. he is almost 6 months and does really well. he doesn't exactly let us know when he wants to go out (since he loves being inside w/us) |
