I just sent off the final papers to collect my settlement amount in the Menu Foods class action suit. The lawyers have the check now. My Winston was poisoned by the Nutro foods I was feeding him on March 12, 2007... 4 days before the food was recalled. He died at the vets when his heart gave out with massive organ failure. I joined this forum shortly after and you all helped me await the arrival of Nigel that July. The settlement was less than the original amount by about 1/2, but still more than anyone expected in a class action suit. I will buy the stand dryer for Nigel and put the rest away hopefully towards a trip to the UK. I feel like I lost my Winston all over again, and when the check gets here, I will destroy all those vet bills and just focus on all the joy Winston was. 4 1/2 was too young to lose him, and I hope no one ever has to go through what I have. Thank you all for being there. |

I'm glad you are getting some compensation, and very glad this long process is going to FINALLY be over! |
I am glad that this chapter is coming to a close for you. I know it has been very painful. With the caveat that I am someone who tends to hold onto stuff of all kinds way too long, I think you might consider not destroying the vet bills but instead, putting them away, just in case a need arises to refer to them. I have no legal back ground and like I said, I tend to hold onto stuff I am sure I shouldn't far too long. But if it were me, I'd put them away somewhere safe, where I didn't have to see them, but knew they were there, in case i needed them. |
