For a small donation, animal loving truckers have volunteered through operation roger to transport fido all over the country. I see many asking about means of transport, perhaps this can be an alternative method to flying, and it's for a good cause. It is purely based on trust, though.... |

years back i rescued derby in ky. and trucker helped out and brought him to me for like no money he traveled with horses in the back |
Amazing. Good stuff! |
We talked with Operation Roger last year when we were first trying to adopt Rudy and there were some challenges to getting him on the plane. You make a small donation and send in your info. They were very nice and eager to help although getting him to Canada was especially challenging. We ended up being able to fly him so we opted out. I was happy to donate and leave room for another dog to get to a furever home. Their website is neat and you can see info on success stories and dogs in transport. They are good people. |
We used Operation Roger a couple times for transporting our rescues. It's a wonderful group of caring professional drivers who love animals. The only downside that I know of is that everything hinges on the trucker's schedule. The sender and receiver have to be flexible. |
Awesome! This broadens my search and brings my dream closer |
I forgot to add that they take non truckers to do short term layovers. If one trucker gets a dog to X and another can pick the dog up from there two days later they have people who will dogsit in between. I think they also use volunteers to drive short distances when routes don't quite overlap. I signed up to do either but have never been called as we're not on too many regular routes. But we'd be delighted to pitch in if they ever did call. |
Wow. Thanks for the info!! They seem much more impressive than I had imagined! It's great to know that there are wonderful pet lovers united in every way~ |
