Huntington is a finalist!! Please Help Us!
   We are so excited here!!! A small group of very dedicated volunteers has been quietly raising money for a dog park addition in our beautiful city park. We have never had a park or dedicated place where the dogs can go off leash. This group has raised $40,000 in private donations, bake sales and car washes, etc. They have enough to fence in the acreage right now and begin phase one. This committee entered our town in a Bark for a Park contest to possibly win $100,000.00 toward a dog park. We just learned today that we are finalists!!!!  And currently in the number 2 position out of 15 cities across America.  The city with the most votes on August 3 will win!! Please help our city realize our dog park dream!!! Volunteers are set up all over town with laptops begging for votes, the newspaper is full of pet articles, and the community is invited to a Howl at the Moon party Monday night to generate enthusiasm. Thanks to everyone again for voting. I was bragging on this forum and your support last evening to anyone who would listen. Huntington embraced the Howl at the Moon voting awareness gathering last evening at our historic Heritage Station. It is the former site of the C&O RR depot. The original brick street, tracks and a red Caboose outline the area. Here are a few of the pictures from last evening.   And of course, Miss Charm donated some "sitting" time for the cause. So proud of my little girl. She was so patient with the artist and all her adoring "fans".  Thanks to everyone, we will find out the results on Friday |

Yes, the caricature came home with us. I love it, we had such a nice time. Everyone was voting at numerous laptops assisted by volunteers. I do hope we win but if not, the community spirit will see the project to completion...just not as soon  |
