Frankie and Matties check up

We had a vet appt today. Frankie was due for shots, and Mattie needed her thyroid checked.
YAY FOR MATTIE

She lost another pound and her thyroid has gone from a low normal of 1.2 to a 3.

It's the first time I have ever taken both into the room at the same time. Usually I will leave one in the car with the air on. They were so good. Frankie is so paranoid when the vet is looking him over. I think he has been through just way to much in his young little life medically.

Now this is unconditional love.....The tech took Mattie back to the lab for her blood draw. She got up started to walk with the tech, then stopped. Turned back and looked at with her big eyes. It was like momma aren't you coming with me? I had to walk down the hall a little ways with her to get her to go. :hearts: :hearts:
Thats love.

That is love.
It is heart breaking when they do that! 3 of mine are trusting, the 4th head for the lobby and climb onto the furniture and window sills. Sheepdog in the window!! I've been known to drag her ass across the lobby, literally, skidmark. Anything behind the exam room requires DH to go with her.......Daddy help me!

That's why everyone loves Glacier. With all her problems lately she's a real trooper. Comes through the vet door, gets weighed and turns to the front door........wishing. But when the vet tech takes her leash she willingly heads off to whatever Hell they have planned for her, submits without complaint and returns to me calmly.

(I wish she was that calm here at pill time. I am literally running out of ideas to get all the meds down her. I'm considerng shoving them through the nose..........)
You may have already tried this but we've had great luck with hiding pills inside mini marshmallows. They are so sticky the pill can't be separated from them, and you can put the pill inside and it forms a perfect seal around the pill.

Just a thought...
So happy your sheepies are doing so well and getting such great care!
I hope all went well.Funny how some will go in willingly and some will not.

I hope they both had good checkups. :D

I'm glad our vet's office has the owners stay with for everything except xrays.

I still have a couple who get nervous...Simon after his near death illness last year (never was nervous before, but all the visits and exams coupled with old age have done him in) and Maggie expresses her anal glands part of the time 8O in fear. She has done so well w/ her fears in the 4 years she's been with us, but this still gets her! :(
