A few months ago my youngest boxer began limping and was given rimadyl for a torn ligament three weeks later no improvement so she was x rayed where she was found to have hip dysplasia. We were researching natural remedies for arthritis and anything to help the discomfort caused by hip dysplasia, something safe to use alongside the glucosamine and we found lots of articles about devils claw. One report I read claimed devils claw was found to be as effective as a prescription only pain killer however with devils claw an anti inflammatory was not necessary but it was still needed with the prescription meds. I was doubtful but carried on reading different reports and reviews and decided to get some. My dogs all have glucosamine chews and fish4dogs treats, the two eldest have glucosamine in their evening meal and salmon oil (again from Fish4Dogs) and recently we started putting the devils claw in the two eldest’s mid day meals. The oil and glucosamine worked wonders don't get me wrong but I have noticed further improvement in my eldest, she never seems to be stiff anymore whereas previously she could be a little stiff upon waking. My middle pooch (the one with hip dysplasia), well I would love to report she's improved but unfortunately it's impossible to tell as the vet had to put her back on rimadyl as she'd torn a tendon, even with two HUGE rimadyl tablets a day she won't put that foot down. So, I personally found the devils claw worked great for arthritis and would recommend it for a human as well as a dog, provided it doesn’t cause any problems (like I said mdr1 is not my strong suit). I can’t say what effect it has for dysplasia but the vet said it’s safe to use even with the weekly injections and allergies to all things green and leafy. So for anyone with an aging chum that has arthritis or just general aches and pains it may be worth a go. (I’ll shut up now) |

I'll look into it, thanks. |
