Thankfully it was in a remote area this time. And no tsunami danger. |
Thank goodness but I did just hear there is a tsunami warning.Would a tsunami warning be issued even for remote areas? Just wondering? Robin |
Tsunamis travel.......far. They are triggered only by certain types of earthquakes, depends on which way the earth breaks and moves. |
The story I read said there was a warning, but no real danger, as the area at risk is virtually a few small uninhabited islands. It was kind of cool that the quake location just happened to be the site of a largely unmanned weather station. Talk about getting a reading w/ little risk. It was just the station and a hostel for visiting meteorologists! |
Thanks Dawn.I was reporting what CNN was reporting.Glad you found something to read and report back with all the info. Thank goodness the weather station was unmanned. Robin |
