Bouncing

Hi everyone, This may sound a little strange, or stupid  but ,Murphy bounces constantly. When he is out for his walks he is a perfect little man. When doing obedience the same, but as soon as he gets in the yard our in the house the bouncing begins :!: It is almost as if he turns into a tigger. or a big shaggy spring. He does not bouce on us ,but just all over. I know it is not for attention, because he gets it all. He is very well mannered. I don't want to tell him no bouncing as I would never want o break his spirit, and his fun loving nature. Is this normal :?: Do they outgrow this? Maybe he does this because he truly is happy all the time? I was just wondering. I just don't want him to forget how to walk

Sounds like a happy dog to me
Sounds like happy puppy behavior!! Perhaps you should rename him TIGGER! I remember when Tasker was a pup he too "bounced", enjoy it. Some day he'll be old and lazy and you'll long for the bouncing days.
I love the bouncing! All 4 paws of fthe grond at once right?
I get the bounce, with a twist. He loves using the flying hip-check!
Clyde even does donkey kicks if he gets really excited!

I always equate the bouncing to really happy tail wagging. Since there's no tail, that happiness has to come out some place!
Yes all 4 of those huge mitts are off the ground, and there usually a little twist of the wigglebum for the finish  Are sheepies known for the bouncing? I have not seen other dogs do it, This must be a breed chacteristic, or something because I know they all bounce and wiggle their butt. Ijust wondered if they ever stop doing this, I sure hope not, he makes me smile and laugh constantly. I think sheepies are anti-depressants all rolled up in a nice furry package.
Butterstotch would love to see the donkey kick, it must be hilarious  I wish you could get a picture of that.
I don't remember my last 2 ever bounding...jumping yes, but not all 4 at once. Everyone in the puppy class used to laugh at it, which of course caused it more. Always controlled, never on anyone/thing.
I'll try too get a kick picture. Oddly, Clyde never wiggles but I'll take the kicks as a sign of happiness!
Lorie,

Barney is a bouncer too. Especially when he pounces on a ball or toy like a cat. Maybe its a family trait. What do you expect from a clown? (er sheepdog) :D
Maggie is still bouncing and she'll be 13 in August. Now her back feet stay on the ground and she springs up with her front feet. Maybe she was taught by her previous owners not to jump up on them but it was ok to jump into the air. I don't remember our two previous sheepies doing this.
Jasper is a bouncer too :)
Bogart's a bouncer too, when he's not pouncing on toys !! :D
Spike bounces :) He's not much of a wiggler either, Butterstotch. The only time I ever see him wiggle his butt is for my neighbor whom he adores.
Henry can go from a bounce to a down position without stopping. He does it twice a day every day in response to my question of whether he is ready for his meal: 2-3 bounces, then straight down (where he must be in order to get fed.) Henry is just adorable.
