Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Good luck wishes coming your way! |
OMG!!!! That's not reasonable for them to require at all! You need to start standing up for yourselves! You should have been/should be talking to your own insurance company about this, and asking for help and telling them you'll be moving into a hotel or trailer at their expense as you need facilities unless they get on the ball here!!! Name dropping/hinting "public adjuster" and "lawyer" words too perhaps. 8 weeks to come see damage is OUTRAGOUS! They could have sent a public adjuster or other outside pro on their behalf. This is not acceptable! |
Good luck!!! |
I wish you luck. I appliance shop tomorrow, doing so with dread having read up on state of appliances these days. crap, crap crap. Years ago was on jury for dishwasher fire case, now your oven, other stuff makes me long to return to old stuff the old stuff, the dishwashers that lasted 20+ years, etc. After all this time it's time you got your lives back together!! |
Good Luck! I hope things start moving along so you can get back to normal. |
Oh Ron, I can't agree more! I do have a public adjuster. I've been dealing with my own insurance company and they are the ones who told me I had to wait until Thermador can get here! Remember, the insurance people are NOT your friends. They want your premiums but run you through hoops to pay out if needed! I also have a lawyer on stand by ( I do work in a courtroom everyday)...but it took me writing in facebook and on Thermador's own site to get them here. I've also reported their defective product to the Consumer Safety Council who have been in touch with me as well. Meanwhile, I've become very proficient in cooking on a single hot plate and toaster oven |
Good luck..I hope eveything works out. |
Here's hopin'!!!!!! Laurie and Oscar |
Good luck, Ashley. Was your fire the result of a malfunction in a Thermadore stove or cook top? What I learned years ago when an enormous wind storm caused a giant hackberry tree to partially lift from its roots and land on our roof was that insurance adjusters only respond to written requests and only if someone besides themselves only will see it. After more than a month of waiting for our insurance adjuster to cut us the check our roofer needed to get started, I finally faxed a letter requesting the promised check because we were about to lose the contractor. I knew others beside our personal (and awful) claims adjuster would see the fax and he couldn't hide anymore. |
Well, how did it go yesterday? My fingers are crossed the red tape has been cut! |
First, yes, the fire was started while in the self cleaning mode and Thermador has recalled thousands of their ovens in the past few years because there is a gap in their insulation that while in the self cleaning mode can cause fire to the cabinets next to it. My exact model was not part of their recalls...But I think that may change any day! The meeting went well I think. An engineer showed up to look at the damage and will be viewing the actual range itself that is now hosued in the fire investigator's evidence room. I had lots of pixc posted on my refir from the day after the fire and the engineer said they were very helpful...Thermador showed up as well. But he ran in, took a few pix and left quicly...I imagine Thermador already knows it was their fault and is jut going through the motions for their files! Meanwhile, I still live with the burned debri! However, I expect in the next week or so, I will get the okay to demolish what is left and rebuild! Of course, insurance has not mentioned money to me...Anything I do right now is out of my own pocket! |
