Quote: One of six Fresca cans lined up on the bottom of the chef's cart clearly rolled off when Bentley, my then-18-month-old rambunctious Old English Sheepdog was playing with one of his other toys in the kitchen, where he was confined for everyone's safety during the day. It rolled. It made noise. It felt cold. “It's a bone, right?” he clearly reasoned. Chew. Puncture. FIIZZZZZZZZZ. That must have been a blast. So he did it again. And again. And again... What an absolutely beautiful tribute to Bentley. It brought tears to my eyes. |
Brought a tear to my eye and she wrote so beautifully you could see the doggy vacuum. |
What a beautiful story and tribute to Bentley. Cindy |

What a Beautiful tribute to Bently! |
Wonderful article and reassuring to know I am not alone in owning a goatdog Bentley's sire is CH Lambluv's Desert Dancer - many of you no doubt remember Yoshi - and my own goat dog does indeed go back to his sire, not that I'm pointing any fingers or anything Heart warming, yet funny at the same time. Thanks so much for sharing. Kristine |
I had to post again in this thread so that others could go and read much more about Bentley. What a Sheepdog he was and yes his papa was the #1 OES,Ch Lambluv's Desert Dancer,"Yoshi". Bentley is related to my Bella by way of Yoshi and I am sure there are others on this forum who are related to Bentley as well. I am just amazed at all of the objects he ingested and did not get ill from it. Google Ch Hytimes Shining Desert Son and you will find a blog his mommy wrote about Bentley. Just thought I would share more about Bentley. Robin |

I also was thinking this is bizarro me and Rudie Rudie may indeed be cursed from both genetic sides. One of our BBR bassets (in her foster home) just had emergency surgery - here is an excerpt from our recent newsletter: Ethel is a sweet, senior Basset that is in foster care with BBR. Some of you may remember her, as she was featured in a Foster Bark not too long ago. Last week, she got into what could have been fatal trouble by eating a box of syringes which resulted in trips to three different vets and surgery to save her life. The two hour surgery resulted in 7 syringes as well as other 'non-food' items being removed from Ethel's stomach. One of the syringes was poking through her stomach into liver. We are unsure what Ethel could have been thinking by eating these items! Ethel made it through surgery and is back with her foster family, resting comfortably. Her incision is almost 20 inches long! She is on soft foods this week and hopefully next week will transition slowly to her regular food. |
Happy to hear Ethel made it and is healing nicely. I always wonder what goes on in a dog's brain. But syringes... how terrifying!!!! Robin |
Ethel, Ethel, Ethel... I often wonder do they honestly think..."You know...I should eat that" |
OMG, Ethel! That's crazy! BTW, perfect name |
Stacy wrote: OMG, Ethel! That's crazy! BTW, perfect name She's really a cute Ethel too - here's a link to her adoption page w/ one picture. And I have NO idea what made her think this was a good idea! http://bassetbuddiesrescue.org/basset/2 ... thel-1372/ |
Ethel is adorable with her beautiful brown soulful eyes. Robin |
