CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay:
What a beautiful job you both did! I am so envious! Harry DID get an ice cream cone for doing so well, didn't he?
Wow great job!! :clappurple:

Tiggy was very worried and then very impressed. First, she didn't think it was Harry, not enough coat.
Then she was amazed at what a good job he did. Tiggy says she would have run over to say hello to Val and the judge and the assistants if she was off lead. Oh and when you go and get the dumbbell it's more impressive to do a victory lap with it first!
^^^^^^^^^^^^

MIM...At this point, that is EXACTLY what Heart would do!!!!! :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
:D :D :D :D Good Job Harry!! :D :D :D :D

GREEN text for a wonderful GREEN QUALIFYING SCORE!!!

That was wonderful - at least he did everything that really counted, just missed the stuff that was points off! :high5:

And thanks Val for videoing :D
OK, he's not good on the come around, otherwise, he's great!! He's really into listening to his mommy.......unlike some girl ......... :lmt:

Great job you two!!
:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:

I am very impressed Harry and Judi :excited:

I wonder how many hours of training it would take to get Millie to do all of that

:lmt: Hours????? Hours????? :lmt: I have found that when it comes to perfomance event training, I am caluculating in months not hours. Even adding up the hours it is still many, many months! And lots & lots of patience.
Thanks everyone...... it was a lot of fun.

Oh Marilyn, no ice cream but ....... lots of string cheese, potato chips (at the celebratory lunch afterwards), a doggie sno cone (and a half ... thanks Heart for sharing) and kettle corn. :cow:

But every second is well worth it!!!!

I love spending time working with him.

And IF Team Harrington can do it with a dumb blonde handler and an impulse-control-challenged sheepdog...... then ANYONE can do this.

1st let me say I am very proud of you Judi for remembering to make sure Harry had some special treats for doing so well. Melody always thought she was Top Dog when she qualified because she got an ice cream cone! And I KNOW she remembered from time to time so she did well each time in order to get one!

Your sentence about spending time working with Harry....................says it all. As much fun a these guys are to live with, I never imagined the bond that would be forged when I started working in obedience with Melody. All the time spent grooming & in the the conformation ring couldn't compare. I have made sure since then that I train the dogs that live with me in performance too. It is just something you can't describe to someone who has never done it.

Keep up the good work! :clappurple: :clappurple:

Great job you two!!

The 'come around' is known as the 'finish' and if you look carefully he obviously knows it, he's just busy eyeing the dumb bell on two of them ;-) Very workable, but not something I would worry about if I was, say, entered again real soon, because it can cause confusion which often results in a period of stress until it is ironed out solid in his head, and with just points off, who cares? 8) But once he has his CDX something to be polished before he goes into the B classes.

There were so many so very nice things about that performance - WOW. I am inspired to see if the little #### has reached a point where she can ignore judges and the likes and will start working with her again. Open is SOOOO much fun for the dogs - they get to jump and retrieve and all that cool stuff.

Did I mention how proud I am of you guys?   :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

HA! I KNEW all that balderdash about Harry being a wild man was just that, balderdash!!!! Harry is the perfect gentleman!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Congratulations! :cheer:
I'm so impressed with his focus! With all of the other dogs in the room and other owners talking to theyr dogs... Aska would be all over everybody! :excited:
We don't have obedience training here in Iceland, only few dogs in Agility... It would be so fun and just good for Aska to be in Obedience :D
I guess when I get older I just have to start everything around here... :lmt:

Joanna - there is nothing to stop you from earning these titles if the bug bites...

Do I get to say I knew Harry when he was "Steamboat Harry" (ask Judi :-) ) up in Michigan at the OESCA 2007 national specialty? You've come a long way, baby!

Knew? Knew?

What videos of agility have you been watching?

The only thing missing from his table is the steamboats! Four years later he still doesn't park his fuzzy butt on that table in trials.

Which reminds me..... my question about said table is still waiting for answer?

That's because I'm not sure what the answer is.

I'd be inclined to pick my battles, which is what I do with Sybil, so I've let her automatic down on the table slide for some time. Then we did USDAA which, of course, has a down on the table 8O

In the lead up to the trial I realized that I was cuing her differently in practice and at trials (lack of consistency on my part; I'm shocked  ;-)) In practice I run to the table, say nothing but stand there with my hands behind my back. This is NOT necessary, it's just the routine I ended up doing because I did a LOT of rewarding the automatic down and I didn't want them looking for my hands. Sybil, who hadn't done an automatic down at a trial since I can't remember (I still make her do them in practice) went down. Of course, not until after she overran the table and came off the other side, so had to get back up

If it was me that wouldn't be at the top of my list to work on unless he self-releases off the table or you plan to do USDAA. Clear as mud? Yeah, for me too.

Mace was also taught an automatic down but apparently prefers to do an automatic sit? :twitch: :twitch: :twitch:

Personally I think OES have a special Drive Your Agility Handler Insane Club (DYAHIC) that OES are required to join before they are allowed to compete in their first trial, and they must also sign a statement that dictates they will never willingly perform a table as taught more than twice in a row at a trial. There are probably competitions for most innovative table "performance" and annual awards for the dog who racks up the most runs that cause handler to come off the course looking for the nearest bar. I'm just guessing on the latter, but I'm pretty confident this is the case.

Sybil is very upset to have lost to Harry two years in a row now, but she says she's closing in on him.

Kristine 8)
We've been deliberating the table issue also (actually think LOTS of people are!). So far I'm sticking with the same autodown we started with. Maybe (ok it is) a bit slower now, but I've stuck to "no leaving the table without a down" ; and he always has it before the count is done...so a non-issue really here. If it starts affecting course times, I may need to rethink it!

My fear is if I start giving on this, he will take it as free license to edit other performance skills...that's just the way the Chewie mind works.... 8)

^^^^^^^ hahaha. I love it! ^^^^^^^
So let me get this straight. Depending on which group hosts the event, you can either do a sit or a down on the table?
Am I confusing myself or is there a "stand" on the table as well? Or is that just for conformation?

You're correct on all counts, really. 8)

The AKC used to require a sit OR a down, to be determined by the judge. USDAA (an agility only organization) always requires a down. Actually, I prefer this, because at least it's consistent. The AKC fairly recently changed the rules regarding table performance and the dog is simply required to stay ON the table - in whatever position the handler chooses -for a count to five.

Those are the only two American organizations that have tables that I'm familar enough with these days to comment on. Dawn - CPE has a table, don't they?

You are correct - each organization has their own rules.
AKC used to require either a sit or down on the table - the judge decided and you found out which it would be the day of the trial. Then the count (5-4-3-2-1-go) started when the dog assumed the required position.
They just changed it to ANY position on the table - as long as all 4 legs of the dog are on it, they can do whatever they want. And the count starts when all 4 legs are on the table.

CPE has no table in the regular classes, they do use it as a timer stop at the end of a few games classes - the timer stops when the dog makes any foot contact w/ the table.

And so one for other organizations! It involves a bit of rule reading before a competition.
Same for other sports - weight pull and obedience and rally are slightly different from one org. to another.
THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
