He found himself at the shelter at his age and cried. Told me his woes and I found it hard to pull myself away. I couldn't stop thinking of him and wrote a post on Hugabull, a forum very much like this one. I checked on him a few days later and saw he was going for an assessment. 5 pages followed my post as people were trying to get someone to pull him. A wonderful lady who already has two took him in to foster. Next she posted photos of him snoozing peacefully by the fireplace with her own dogs. Even more wonderful, (I found out yesterday) that he was adopted! I was sent photos of him racing in the water with his Husky brother and another of him snoozing on a comfy bed. This is the life that all old dogs should have. I cried when I saw the photos..happy tears but also a sense of profound sadness for all the other dogs in shelters or mills that may never get the chance. It reminds me of the starfish story. |
