Margarita ice cream Recipe

From Nigella

Super easy but rich, rich, rich. No ice cream machine needed.

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
4 oz lime juice......maybe 5 limes, bottled is OK (next time I'm adding a bit of zest too)
2 Tb. Tequila
3 Tb. orange liquer (like Gran Marnier)
2 cups whipping cream

Mix sugar, juice and liquors together to dissolve. Add whipping cream and whip to soft mounds......takes a while, by all means the cream must be cold. Pour into a freezable container and freeze for about 8 hours. If going into dedicated chest or upright freezer, you might have to let it sit a bit before serving. I moved mine into the refrigerator's freezer after the initial serving and the higher temp kept it perfect for serving. Yeah, you can put a combo on sugar and salt on the individual serving dishes, but I don't bother.

I promise not to forget this promise

Thanks for sharing this, can't wait to indulge!!
I was SO excited when David told me that he had posted in the Cooking section of the forum. Could this be the breakthrough I had waited 13 years for??? Would he FINALLY start taking an interest in cooking? I am not sure that Margarita Ice Cream qualifies as 'cooking' but I suspect I will get to try some this weekend!
This sounds delightful!! Can't wait to try this out! This weekend!
Can't wait for others opinions. I'm a lime freak so start out biased.

No, I haven't put "de lime in de coconut" but working on a recipe.
Sounds yummy!

I say who needs an excuse
When it comes to margaritas or ice cream, no excuses needed.
Thank you for posting this, I made it last evening, and super delicious!!!!
It was easy too. A nice summertime crowd pleaser..
crowd? I'm reluctant to share

Glad you enjoyed it. It is a nice summer time dessert.
I just bought the alcohol, so I'm definitely trying. EVERYTHING made with whipping cream is delicious. Even better that you don't need an ice cream maker! That's the only kind I make (or else I never get around to it), so this is perfect!
Since there are limes and orange liquor involved, which I consider fruit, and we all know fruit is good for you, I consider this a HEALTHY SNACK FOR ADULTS.  The tequila is just a happy bonus!!!! :high5: :high5: :high5:
