Puppy Coat

As I continue to search for the perfect OES breeder, I came across one that currently has a litter available. From looking at the pictures, the pups are very adorable and healthy looking. However, as I clicked on the photo album of a previous pup from the same parents, the hair seems a bit thin even at 6 month. I see some puppies at 5 to 6 month of age and have really fluffy coats on this forum. Just wondering if somebody can tell me if that's normal or is that a warning sign?

oh I forgot to mention that it's only puppies from the same parents that have thinner puppy coats. Puppies from other litters seem fine.
It could mean any number of things. Some people can't groom. Puppies play hard. The puppy could be running with other young dogs who are chewing the puppy's coat off. Or...? Hard to tell that kind of thing from a picture on a website some times.

I just realized you're in NYC. I have a suggestion for you from my personal list of good breeders: Madeline Erickson/Rochester, NY area - her contact info is on the OESCA site, along with a number of other Eastern breeders for that matter: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamer ... /east.html

I'd start there. Good luck!

Is clydal's (Mary's) Apolo a Haystac pup? He is a beautiful dog.

And Madeline is a real nice person.

Kristine is absolutely correct; you should contact Madeline.
What do the coats on the parents look like... ? I have seen
some OES that have thin coats and it really takes away from
the dog... You seem to be doing a great job on searching...
do not be in a hurry... do not settle ... if ANYTHING does not
look right .. take it as a red flag and just keep looking... you will
know when you find the right pup... you will not have questions...

Yup, Apolo (Mary's dog) is GCH Haystac's Bright North Star, if I'm not mistaken. Mary has a younger sister of his as well. A good person to PM with questions.

Kristine
Kristine,
Mary does have a younger sister.
