My wife takes a medium sized pork tenderloin, drops it in with a cup of water, a package of onion soup mix and a 1/4 cup of Italian salad dressing. Simple and deeeelish! Vance |
We pass around crock pot recipes at work. One all time favorite is this beef roast. Place beef roast in crock. Mix a can of cream of celery soup and can of mushroom soup together. No water, just soups. Add one package of your favorite dry brown gravy mix to soup. Stir to blend. Pour over roast. Cook on low 8+ hours. Serve over noodles, or with mashed potatoes. The gravy is delicious. (If gravy is too thin, I remove lid after 8 hrs and cook on high for an hour.) good luck! |
One of our favorites is Pepper Steak 2 lbs of beef sirloin cut into 2" strips 1/2 cup chopped onion Garlic powder to taste 2 large green bell peppers, roughly chopped 1 cube beef bouillon 1 (14.5 oz) can stewed tomatoes with liquid 1/4 cup of HOT water 3 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon cornstarch 1 teaspoon white sugar 1 teaspoon salt Put sirloin strips in crock pot and sprinkle with garlic powder to taste. Mix bouillon cube with hot water until dissolved, then mix in cornstarch until dissolved. Pour into crock pot with meat. Stir in onion, green peppers, stewed tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar and salt. Cover, and cook on high 3 to 4 hours or on low 6 to 8 hours A little bit of work, but well worth it! I serve with rice. You can get rice in the microwave steam bags or minute rice makes individual microwave cups. Kathie |
I've made hot wings in the crockpot. Usually I microwave them just a bit to speed the cook time, them place them in the crockpot. Add whatever sauce you like and then enjoy! I have bought bottled sauce, used a mix and made my own...and then when serving, can dip it in ranch or blue cheese to balance the fire |

I have a crock pot question. I love buying second hand items. On Saturday I bought a crock pot, small black with 4 settings. In the UK we dont seem to have crock pots just slow cookers. What I dont understand is the crock pot has a steam hole in the glass lid whereas slow cookers dont have, why? Do I just use it like a slow cooker? I havent tried it yet. I am waiting until I am home so i can keep an eye on it! ps I used my own slow cooker today. Just for hubby... I cut up 2 sausages and fried them quickly until just browned. Sliced potatoes, onion, carrots, celery. Put in cooker with sausages, frozen peas, pinch of curry powder, thick brown gravy. Cooked for about 8 hours on low, turned up to high for 30 minutes and popped in a dumpling for another 30 minutes. Really easy and a favourite! |
Hey Thanks. I think I now have some recipes thanks to you for another few weeks at least! Thankfully, the weather has been nice so we are using the grill alot too. Good thing the fire didn't happen in the winter! Has anyone ever made a turkey breast in the crock???? |
Sue, I thought a crock pot was the same as a slow cooker! You wouldn't want to leave something cooking for hours with a steam hole ... would you?.. surely it would dry out? |
I thought crock pot and slow cooker were the same too. But different than a pressure cooker. Those things scare me! |
