I can pick up the dog poop thats easy enough. But even first thing in the morning she goes out and grazes. She doesn't get sick from it, just sometimes a little harder for her too poop. Is she lacking something in her diet, is her tummy upset. Maybe it's not even a big deal. Just curious if it's ok for her to graze all of the time. Lisa Frankie and Mattie |

Has she always eaten grass/poop? Lucy ate poop for the first year of her life...that's all she had. It doesn't matter how much food we give her, she'll eat grass, leaves, anything she can get her mouth on. If she has just recently started eating grass and poop, I would wonder as well. Have you cut her food back? If so, that could be a good reason. On a side note, I Mattie. I remember the posts you made questioning if she was happy...I assure you she is. How can you deny that smile??? |
I've had several dogs that are just grass grazers Mine ate it, and it pooped out (didn't vomit it). Years ago when my lab Macy was the current grazer, I asked Troy (my vet) about it, and he said if she seems to enjoy it, doesn't make her sick and all that, then there is no real harm in it. One biggie is that no fertilizer or chemicals are in the grass they eat - we are safe as we don't use anything. Chewie's sister Martha is a grazer |
Several of my girls have been grazers. Most of the time it stays down, other times it is used to upchuck. Poor MO is miserable until spring when the grass greens back up. I have thought of growing her own garden for the winter........but let's be real. |
Here Mady and Chewie were grazing grass just like sheep, I couldn't get them to stop... |
China likes to graze the grass too. As long as the grass isn't treated I don't worry. |
