As some of you know I am currently an early years classroom teacher (grades four and five right now). I've wanted to make the move into administration for a while, and for next year I've been appointed to a vice principal position in another school in our division. I went for a visit this week and it's gorgeous. The staff seems fantastic, the students were awesome, the building is breathtaking, and I am over the moon happy. I will, of course, miss my friends and students at my current school, but this is such a wonderful and exciting opportunity. I am just bursting. Most of our early years buildings have only half time VPs, so I'll likely be doing a half time Kindergarten position as well. I'm doubly excited. I love doing early early years, and this will be great. So, in addition to all the regular craziness that goes on around year end, I am now happily sorting, packing, and schlepping all my stuff home. The school, which I'd never been to before, turned out to be about four blocks from my house, which is an added bonus. I got invited to the last General Adminstrators Meeting of the year (kind of a welcome to the newbies) and we had to stand up and introduce ourselves. We had to name and describe our pets (it could have been so much worse). At the break one of my divisional colleagues came over and said, "I heard you have Old English Sheepdogs. I have one too." She is officially the only other person I actually know in real life to have one. I've invited her to join us here at oes.org, and hope she will, so if you're here and lurking, a special hello to you Connie! So that's my news. I must go and do more packing, organizing, and schlepping now. |

I think one of the best things you'll find about this job, is the 4 blocks from your house location. I have found It makes a massive difference to the quality of your life when you live close to work. |
