I left around 1:15 PM (CST). Traffic was better going home than it was coming in. The boys were real quiet until somewhere west of Indy when Brick started crying about every 45 minutes. I could get him to quiet down by lowering his window or turning on the rear air. I know what he wanted. He wanted to ride in the front seat. I wasn't going to have any of that. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore. I pulled into a rest stop about 20 minutes from my ex's house to let them out. Zeke, who behaved like an angel the whole way, peed & pooped for me. Brick, just peed and sniffed around. So I loaded them back in the car and drove to my ex's. Got there about 8:45 PM (EST). They greeted us outside and the first thing I said to my ex was, "I need your backyard". I had to carry him out to her yard because he's afraid of the grill that's right by the rear stairs. So I carry him out to the far corner where he begins to pee on all of her vegetables and newly planted flowers. FINALLY, he takes a big dump. Now he has a spring in his step and he's doing his happy prance. Zeke, in the meantime, is rolling around in the yard like Harry was a Purina farms. He must've found something good. So we all say our sad "see ya laters" to Zeke & Brick (I'm hoping they come up to Syracuse at the end of August for our State Fair), I load Brick in the car and off we go. It's now 9:18 PM (EST). I let Brick in the front seat. As soon as we start moving, he splays out along the seat & console and falls asleep. I guess he really had to poop! I drive until 12:38 AM (EST) where I pull off in a rest stop (just inside the PA-OH border) for some sleep. I ended up sleeping 5 hours in the car. Didn't expect that. So I get Brick out for potties. I had to wait to use the bathroom because a motorhome full of Mennonites pulled up & packed the bathrooms. We got back on the road at 6:30 AM and it was smooth sailing all the way to Syracuse. I got home at 10:30 AM (EST) and I've been running around all day with chores. I finally got a chance to relax at about 5 PM. And it was all worth it!! (except next time, I'll take a 3rd day off so I can stay for the Sunday evening activities.) |
