I always say that Oscar is deaf, but not mute! Oscar barks way more than our first OES, Quincy, ever did. And his bark is deep and LOUD! Oscar is very demanding, so when he wants something, he has an annoying high-pitched whine/bark......sharp and piercing. He also growls when he sees something he doesn't like, which is low and deep. All in all, he sounds similar to our first OES. Though Oscar doesn't hear with his ears, he "hears" through bone conduction, meaning, when he barks, he feels that reverberation throughout his body. While he doesn't hear noise or his own barks externally, he feels them internally. Hopefully, Kathy will chime in on this one, as she has experience with multiple deaf pups. Laurie and Oscar |
I agree with Laurie - definitely not mute, their bark is loud, continuous and high pitched... Sometimes Cooper barks so loudly that he startles himself- he'd look around and go "what was that?!!" Theyre so cute when they bark though - they have that naive expression. |
Yes, I think Finn and Georgie are related to Oscar Couldn't have said it better myself Laurie! Funny when Georgie is chewing on a toy and Finn comes near she throws a tantrum, barking snuffling etc.... Wonder why she thinks it will scare him off when neither of them can hear it People do ask that question often! |
