1/2 can (or 1 cup frozen, cooked) NO SALT ADDED green beans added to their kibble each meal. You cut back on the amount of kibble & replace it with the beans. The amount depends on the size of the dog of course but for instance, my girl used to get 1-3/4 cups of kibble 2 times a day for meals. She now gets 1/2 a can of green beans & 1-1/4 cups of kibble each meal. Helped her lose the extra pounds & she maintains a nice healthy weight on this. She's also 11 years old now & has been on this diet for several years & her activity level if phenomenal. I might add, I suggest this only for otherwise healthy, adult dogs. If your dog is not fully mature they still need the calorie intake for growth. And remember, the size of the dog treats matter too. My adults get 1 biscuit for a "medium sized dog" with each meal & 1 before bedtime. The large bones for large dogs are the equivalent of giving them a Snickers candy bar each time! |
I "had" two fatty pants going close to eighty pounds. They each needed to be about 60-65 pounds. I started the green bean diet by cutting their food(the evening meal) in half and replacing it with the green beans. It took about a year, since we were only doing one meal(breakfast was just regular food) but they are both down to good weights. Plus they both LOVE green beans. I highly recommend the green bean diet because it works!!! |
