I am the proud owner of a 9 week old sheepie named Mao. I live in the west island of Motnreal with my Wife Anne and my two Children Élodie (14) and Cédric (12). This is our first dog! and so far we are getting to know each other and things are going well. i am very happy to have found this meeting place and it has been a source of motivation and advice from the very start. I find it very comforting to read what others before us have gone though and how they coped with various situation and all the advice the got from other sheepdog owners. I hope this community stays strong. So Hi everybody and I can'T wait to read your comments. here is a picture of MAO |

Hello from West Virginia!!! Welcome Mao and family We have a (almost) five month old puppy named Charm. She is a delight, and I know you must be having a great time already. Its true that the puppy days go by so quickly. We just came from the vet, Charm weighs 35 pounds already, (roughly sixteen kilos) and losing so many baby teeth. Enjoy sweet Mao , looking forward to her adventures!! |
Welcome from Ottawa! Congratulations on your puppy! |
Welcome from Kansas City, Missouri, USA! Mao is adorable! |
Welcome to the best place for OES owners..... From our gang in Minnesota |
Hello from New Jersey! We have an almost 5 month old puppy named Dahlia. Like Charm, she is also losing lots of teeth and is just a fun, bundle of fluff! She is almost 50lbs and is just a wonderful little lady (well, most of the time ) You will love being here and everyone is so helpful. I wish I knew of this site with my other OES before she passed. I could have used the love and support that you will find here. There is just a wealth of information. Spend time searching the threads.....the answers to all are pretty much in there. Welcome! They grow so fast! |
Welcome from WI, Mao is a sweet looking little girl. |
Welcome from Nova Scotia , we love pictures... lots and lots of pictures |
Hi all and thanks for the warm welcome . I forgot to mention that MAO is a boy . He was born on february 27th 2011. I did not realize that dogs lost their baby teeth like we do. Thanks for the heads up. Mao is bringing so much joy to our family. My only regret is that we waited so long before deciding to get one. I will post more picture soon. Take care everyone. TER. |
They definitely lose all of their teeth! You may find one in the house, or generally they swallow them. Don't be alarmed if you see their mouth bleeding, or if they are playing with another dog, and lose a tooth....that some blood can get on the pup or on their toys. It is normal. Dahlia started losing her teeth at about 4 months. She has just about lost them all and she is almost 5 months. You will start to see the adult teeth come in very quickly after losing the baby teeth. She enjoys eating ice cubes and sucking/eating on frozen toys and treats to help with the teething. |
Welcome to the forum |
Welcome from Ottawa. Between Montreal and Ottawa, we are starting to have enough sheepies that we should find somewhere in the middle to have a playdate! |
Oops, sorry Mao I call most dogs "she", no excuses, just my bad habit. Thanks for letting us know. |

Welcome from Tennessee! Mao is a cutie! |
Hi all and Thanks for the warm welcome. Sure has been rainy in Montreal the past weeks. Having a sheepy puppy made me more aware of the weather. Did I say this was my first dog? nicer weather is back and we are enjoying our walks more than ever. Mao even jumped in the pool once Here a some more pictures. He is now a little over 3 months and has more than doubled its weight since we got him at 8 weeks. We keep getting tons of compliment on how beautiful Mao is. One lady stopped her car and asked us if she could trade us her husband for our dog We also get a lot of: It's been a long time since I saw this breed of dogs and I am so happy to see one. So cheers from Montreal and I am looking forward to continue to read your posts in the various forums and look at all the nice pictures. Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks. Cheers. Mao is a doll! Congratulations on your puppy. Funny I had someone say to me today, they had not seen an Old English in quite some time. They are rare where I live too, so I know the feeling. Enjoy Mao while still a puppy, they grow up way too quick. Robin |
Welcome from Ohio! Thierry, you won't find a more open, honest and non-confrontational forum on the 'Net. Folks here know their stuff and love to share. And all it costs is posted photos and you're doing fine there already. Any chance you have a video of Mao? He'd be a big hit there... Vance |
Photos are not necessarily required.... But definitely greatly appreciated!!! (Fullsize popups enabled for original posts, too!) |
