Depending on the table height and your dog, you can either have them jump up or boost them up. My big table is lower (30.5 inches=77.5cm) and both Chewie (and Ollie, our 1st OES) jump up onto it. The pink show table is taller, about 33 inches (78cm) and a smaller surface area. I had Chewie put his front paws up, and I boost his butt. I don't recommend having them jump down - they could slip or land wrong, and I don't want them in the habit of ever doing that either. I lift them off. Of course the bassets I need to lift on and off! |
Great thanks the height of mine is same as yours . |
If your dog can sit on a chair, get them onto the chair, then onto the table. I can do this with MO. Jack, Glacier and Harry we have to lift up, takes two people , same coming down. |
Haha yes infact she thinks we brought the leather sofa for HER!. |
billy used to jump on the grooming table then bark till i got there! then one day he did'nt quite make it, he then put 2 paws up and barked till i got there lol i now have a table that goes down to 12" he now requires me to put it right down, then he jumps on. he now stands at the side of the table and barks till i get there!!! i think £127 is a good price for a large table, considering its got a h frame too, they can be £50+ enjoy |
We didn't get our first grooming table until Inca was about 1 year - but now I have no idea how I managed without it! In terms of getting up and down - we ask/bribe/coerce them to put their front feet up, and then boost the back end. They get lifted off (not by me ) to get down. We really do need to get another one now (first is getting a bit wobbly and isn't really big enough for Saxon) so I will be interested to know what you think of the table when it arrives |
Inca's Human wrote: We really do need to get another one now (first is getting a bit wobbly and isn't really big enough for Saxon) How old is your table? A decent grooming table should last for many many years. I'd be calling the vendor and/or original manufacturer and demanding a warranty replacement if is has demonstrated any degradation in less than 3 years. I still use the original legs from our first grooming table, now over 35 years old, under a replacement top. The top began to sag after about 10 years so I replaced that with a heavier higher quality plywood top and it is still our primary table for dog shows or whenever we go away with our dogs. My grooming room has the hydraulic lifting and rotating top table so granted the regular table really doesn't see a lot of use anymore - but it is still solid and relaible and will probably be for the rest of my grooming career/life. Thanks and Cheers Carl |
Same as Carl said. Our older table is almost 15 years old and all original parts; no sign of any real change in it. The "new one" is about 4 years old and still in perfect shape. Also both get lots of use, and hauled to shows, etc. |
