Has anyone used one? Did you like it? Can you post a pic of your sheepie with the cut? What does the HT mean? I'm familiar with the FC (finish cut). I'm pretty sure that I can use the Andis blade with the Oster A5 Turbo clippers, has anyone had any problems with it? |

I have no idea what HT means! I've used a 3F (finish) and a 5 skip tooth and a 10. The 10 leaves the hair really short, the 5 is good for leaving it just a hair longer (pun intended) while getting through mats, and the 3 is good for a longer cut if the fur is already mat free. |
Hi i dont know what the ht stand for either but i bought this blade about 6-9months ago and its awesome. quite a bit longer than the 3F. i bought it for my 2 sheepies maddy and coal and i love it for a not too short summer cut. it works great against the grain for the 2yr old upright. lol when the dogs are done he wants a turn! Cher, who cant log in on my ornery phone at this time:( |
The 3/4 is a great blade that leaves a nice plush coat. It only works on OES that are not matted. A #5 or #7 is a better blade for a dog with any matting. |
HT = Heat Treatment Andis® UltraEdge™ dog clipper blades are made from high-carbon steel and processed through a unique carborizing heat treatment that actually adds carbon to the metal. More carbon on the metal means a harder cutting surface. Blades hold a razor sharp edge that will endure prolonged use and more sharpening treatments. |
I haven't purchased a 3/4 blade but like Ron, I've used a #3 blade. I think there's 1/4" difference in finished length. These two boys recently had their bodies clipped with a #3 blade... legs/heads scissored. The big boy with the mask... I shaved his body down with a #3 blade 7 days before the pictures were taken- http://oesusa.com/Bumbie-051711.jpg I just trimmed his legs a little shorter tonight. The little boy (lightest gray) was shaved down with a #3 blade 2-3 days before the pictures were taken- http://oesusa.com/Kubby-3Blade.jpg Top pictures before bath, bottom after. I think a 3/4 blade would be a nice length. Just FYI... there are some nice in-between blades now... a #6 and #8 1/2... they give a little more flexibility. Darby got her short summer cut over the weekend. I used a #6 blade... scissored legs/head. I used a little longer blade on the lower area of her chest to try to eliminate pink areas where the hair grows in different directions. http://oesusa.com/index.1852.jpg |
Curiosity got the better of me so i bought one, not got to try it on a sheepie yet but so far on a lhasa and a cross breed. Its a very hard blade to work with, where say a #3 blade will glide through a non matted coat, this blade has such long teeth its very slow going, and definatly no chance of going through matts! It gives a lovely finish though, not had chance to take any picturers yet but i will this week, i do one with the 3/4 and the #3 |
As I was shaving Jack yesterday I kept thinking about the 3/4 blade......wouldn't work for me. too many tangles, etc. We do fine with a 5 and sometimes a 3..........and 10 in tough spots. |
