dog dreaming

Mady often dreams, and often she gives these high pitched yelps while dreaming. Kim worries she is having nightmares. I think she's fine. What is she dreaming about? Should we comfort her?

when Bella does this which is fairly often I am sure she is dreaming about chasing the cat, a chipmunk, or rolling around in something stinky left by the deer. It always makes me laugh and I know how happy she is.
No, don't wake her. Let her continue her adventure. I've noticed the more adventuresome the dog the more we see these "adventures." I've often though they are learning how to handle various situations through their dreams....or reliving past chases.

Dogs live in the now. I doubt she'll be waking up tomorrow and think, "Wow, that was a wild dream!"
Huh. Tonks has always been a heavy dreamer- her legs twitch, and she yelps. They aren't happy sounds, and not sounds she ever makes while awake. I often go and comfort her, I pet her and say soft soothing things until it stops or she wakes up.
China is my big "dreamer" with legs running and such. When China "starts" I always tell my husband "well, we're on an adventure with China." Periodically the others will make noises, other then snoring that is, and I know they are dreaming. I just let them enjoy thier dream.
I love doggy dreams. I won't wake them up or comfort my dogs because a touch usually wakes them up. I do wonder what they dream about though.

Gideon my hound is my doggy dreamer. He cries and twitches his paws half the time. The other half of the time he must be chasing something because his paws twitch, he starts growling and ends up sounding like his motor is dying (rrrrrr brrrup brrrup brrup) lol
I always laugh when the dogs are dreaming sometimes along with the noise the legs are going at 100 miles an hour, I am sure there chasing something in their sleep.

Awake no birds are allowed to land in the yard, so I suspect its that in their dreams
Bingley sleeps in his crate in our room, and sometimes he has dreamed so loudly that he has woken us up. Most of the time I can tell he's playing or chasing something in his dreams but one night I woke up to these freaky yelp/almost scream sounds - it was scary for me!! It hasn't happened since, and I'm glad it is a rare occurrence!
Chowder's yelps in her sleeps are also not noises she makes when awake and often scary! They are normal sometimes and it is obvious she is having a good dream BUT sometimes they aren't and I've thought the same thing, is it a nightmare? should I wake her? I've decided to let her handle it and let her sleep.
