Tricking people into thinking your sheepie is well behaved

I don't know what it is, if its the love, people, or the commotion but Lily is incredibly well behaved out of the house. She has her fan club convinced that she is calm, well mannered and quiet all the time. You can't convince anyone otherwise.

Just once I would love to see her out and do a flying summer-salt off of someone else's couch into their coffee table and send everything flying. :plead:
Jump off the back of the couch onto someone because there is no room left on the couch and she thinks she needs to be there.
Or the oh so classic paw to your face and a bark when she isn't getting her way.
I would love it if she showed her true silly misbehaved self and stop making me look like a liar.

Any one else's sheepie have everyone but you convinced they are perfectly well behaved?

Oh that would be so nice! Think of the alternative! If every time you went out you were worried how your dog was going to misbehave and/or embarrass you!

I had one like that. Well, she wasn't really bad in a nasty way. She lived in a show home & was absolutely perfect when at home & with their little girl. When she came to my house for grooming or when I took her to shows, I had no idea what she was going to do next....in or out of the ring! She wasn't bad in a bad way. It was just like she was SO excited to be with me or at my house with my dogs that she kept trying to please me in double/triple time & was so afraid she wasn't that she never slowed down enough for me to let her know when she did do well! I guess if she was going to be "bad", I'd rather her be bad with me than with her owners & their little girl. And I REALLY don't mean "bad" in a bad or nasty way. She just never slowed down! Ask Kristine!

Oh!!! I just realized who you meant....

The kind of dog you are double-triple happy to finish - while you're still upright

Fun to watch...in a better you than me way :sidestep:

I too wish Tiggy would convince strangers that she is well behaved. I could live with the naughtiness at home.

However, if you really want a demo of Lily's true self and you haven't tried sheep herding then I'd give that a go. Tiggy loses her brains and all self control in a round pen with sheep. She leaves the spectators gaping and not because she's fantastic at it.
I've shared Rudy's issues with you all here.

In the house he's delightful (if you ignore the pacing at night and the nervous eating, neither of which show up when he's happy and focused on guests in the house). Hudson jumps on company, but Rudy gently pushes and then settles in and is a perfect, kind, puppy dog eyed gentlemen.

No one in my family has EVER seen Satanic Rudy in action, and most are completely convinced that I am making it all up.

Anyone who walks their dogs down our street knows that side of him of course, but family swears that I cannot possibly be telling the truth.

So I know exactly what you are experiencing! sigh.
Oh yes...I definitely have a "situationaly" well behaved sheepdog  .

It took years to figure it out, but Bert basically just "shorts out" when he is overwhelmed. If there are too many people, dogs or too much stimulation going on he gos totally deer-in-the-headlights on us 8O . People always mistake this still, silent, glaze-eyed behavior for "being good" :? . I will admit, its handy sometimes, although also a bit disturbing!

My poor boy  he's, ya know, sensitive

This has been fun, and all, but can we go home now?

ABSOLUTELY!!!!
Phoebe is almost 6 months and was the quiet puppy up until 8 weeks and her littermates started leaving. I think once she realized she was a keeper she decided to let her real self show! Perhaps it has something to do with trying to live up to her registered name.... "Something Wicked"
She's hell on 4 paws at home but take her out or have company and she's an angel....
Surprisingly she knows her name is Phoebe, and doesn't seem to think it's some other not so family friendly word which she frequently hears, or "Get Off!" "Shut up!" "Get out of that!" "Let go of my pant leg!" etc....
She's just so freakin cute though..... and she knows it.
Well now Dutch is just the opposite and some people don't understand why I love her, company comes and are greeted by a wiggling, bouncing ball of fur, always sticking her nose or butt up to be petted or scratched making a plain nusiance of herself . When we are alone she sits or lays at my feet, were I go she goes, comes to bed with me and lays her head across my stomache for about 1/2 hour then goes off to her spot on the floor, will stay in the bedroom with me untill I decide to get up , sometimes when she needs to go out she will not bark or paw me but sits at the side of the bed and pants untill I wake up she's lucky (or maybe I am  ) that I'm a light sleeper  . I know she is not the best behaved or trained dog but I LOVE her and she is my best friend

It's extremely important to greet guests and let them know they are welcome anytime. How else can you ensure they come back again. I'd love to visit with you guys. Don't know what you're guests are on about. :clappurple:

Sounds like my mom's sheepies and I love sheepie greetings. :excited: :hearts:  :hearts: :excited:
When Bobby walks Chauncey at night I hear what a devil dog we have ( except when he gets stopped on the street by the girls in the neighborhood ).
I can take Chauncey anywhere and he doesn't act up, we have a good time.
Bobby was at a historical event all last week with well over a thousand other historians. I couldn't go the first 3 days but needed to go up to drop some things off on Wed. night. I took Chauncey along. Bobby usually reports each night how he pulls and misbehaves on his walks. Well I had a large camera bag, a full bag of groceries and Chauncey that night and during our long walk from the parking lot, we had a wonderful time. We were stopped by small children for a pet as well as adults and elderly and he was a perfect gentleman.
Now.....although he is good at home, he can he a bit stuborn. But is good with guest.
