What do you feed your Old English Sheepdog?

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering what types of dog food (brands/flavors etc.) you feed to your OES'. How your dog does on it, or what you have changed from, or what you have been feeding him/her their whole life?

Thanks!

After much trial and error and a lot of loose poos and tummy problems, we feed Orijen Six Fresh Fish dry kibble and do VERY well. Orijen makes a chicken mix too and others but we started on their 6 Fresh Fish and since we did well, we kept it. Been about four years now and so far so good :D

However, I might add, ask your Vet how many CALORIES, not cups of food, your dog should be getting. Then look at the label and find out how many calories are in each cup. Many products give a "suggested" amount of food to feed and I find it is usually too mcuh for my dogs. That suggestion goes for any food you decided to feed.
Also after many trials and poop runs we feed a mix of

ID canine (from the vet) it's not good so we combine it with
Nutro Ultra for Large breeds
All three eat Fromm, and we switch off the flavors.
My guys eat the Salmon and Sweet Potato from Nature Select. They really like this one and they have slimmed down a bit (Baxter still has a way to go) but both like this a lot.
We rotate here....some of the ones in the mix are:
Fromm's Adult, NutriSource Performance, Nutro Natural Choice Grain Free Lamb and Potato
My seniors get Purina Pro Plan Sensitive Skin & Stomach. In their younger years they get Purina Pro Plan Lamb & Rice Shredded Blend.
Through the years I think I have tried almost every food out there, and my dogs have all done the best on ProPlan, which I have stuck to for the last 6 years. Healthy, great coats and perfect poops :) ProPlan Large Breed Puppy for pups, ProPlan Chicken & Rice Puppy when I have a pregnant bitch, and now my adults get the ProPlan Shredded Blend Chicken.
I mostly stick with Taste of the wild, they have a lamb and rice one now that I feed Butchy and Tripper the basset. Tripper was always a foot and leg licker and I've noticed he seldoms licks anymore, on his feet at least, so think that has helped. There is another one I am able to get called Nutri-life, it's fairly new but think for Tripper it's too rich.
Pro Plan Puppy chicken and rice for puppies and pregnant bitches, pro plan shredded blend chicken for adults. I fed Iams for years and was happy with it but after they changed their formula and it became hard to find in a big bag I switched. I've been very happy with pro plan and will probably never switch again unless they mess it up by changing it too much.
Frankie eats Mulligans Stew Fish
and Mattie eats Solid Gold

When Bailee was a puppy our Vet told us to use only a high quality food. We fed him Innova Puppy food and he thrived on it. NOT ONCE did he have a "looseness" issue. Our Vet told us that by using the high end foods we would save money in the long run since it was better for him. He is now 2&1/2 and we have fed him Taste of the Wild (Bison) for the past year and a half and again we have never had a "looseness" problem, NOT ONCE! He is 78 pounds of the healtiest, runningest, dog you have ever seem and other than 1 ear infection we have had no medical issues (other than normal vaccinations). Better quality foods with less of the "fillers" and junk that is put in cheaper foods to give them bulk really are a better long term investment, especially for the health of your dog.
Diamond naturals lamb and rice for my adult dogs and for puppies the lamb and rice puppy food.

Thats what the adults get because it has lower protein. A low protein diet is for my epileptic dog and the wolf hybrid is on it too. they both do well on it.
