Soo to get around this problem, a while ago I wrote some code that allows people to use their "Share URL", using the simple BBcode tags "[youtube] and [/youtube]" Recently however, Youtube changed their "Share URL" format. Now instead of something like "http://youtube.com/watch?v=hdflkasdfh" or "http://youtube.com/watch?v=hdflkasdfh&somefeature=something" It now looks like "http://youtu.be/hdflkasdfh" (note the completely new URL) and sometimes "http://youtube.com/watch?somefeature=something&v=hdflkasdfh" (note the ordering is different) Okiedokie. Lovely. Nice and short. However the code I wrote won't work for the new one, and I can't just change it going forward and break all of the old ones already posted on the forum. Sooooooo, I have re-written that old code, and hopefully it will now recognize both formats. I have tested it out somewhat, and it seems to work. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you see a linked-in youtube video that is blank (white) and you can still see "If you can't see the video, click here" or if the "click here" url has the word "undefined" on the end, please let me know? THANK YOU! PS As a reminder, to embed youtube videos, all ya gotta do is to put the URL (address) they give you in between the two youtube tags like this: [youtube]http://youtu.be/ldkfjhasdf[/youtube] |
|
That's [youtube]theurl[/youtube] |
Sounds good...and I have some video coming, so I can test it.....oy! |
Thanks Ron--I have tried to embed before but couldn't get it to work--now I know why--(I think)- This may be a dumb question but do I just need to type in the two youtube things?? like this [youtube]whateverurl[youtube] -- is that it?? |
I just posted not realizing is was brand new. Hate that an early youtube is expressing anal glands......yuck! |

The first (opening) one is just [youtube] the second (closing) one is [/youtube] Notice the slash before the word |
Ron wrote: The first (opening) one is just [youtube] the second (closing) one is [/youtube] Notice the slash before the word oops, I missed that the slash was missing from the example. It is easy though - I even have that one memorized! |
Great! I did not notice the slash the first time either!! Maybe make this a sticky so it is easily referenced! Although it seems easy to remember now... |
