I called the shelter. (Not that I was planning to adopt, 4 is really the max with 2 of them have had medical issues but I really wanted to find out what's happening to him) They said Panda is not available for adoption because he is going to a Rescue. I guess that means some angels have already started working to help him?   |
| Good chance So. Calif OES rescue nabbed him. At 3 he's right in their average age for rescues. They don't run a "look at me" page so we don't know if he's there. btw, they don't adopt out of their region. |

Thank so much for checking on him, Gigi!!  Hopefully he'll soon be shaved own and bathed. It's been raining OESs for the southern CA rescue. I sent them a different listing last night. I love how they quickly check on these babies needing help.  |
| I wish I could do more to help. OES needing a home has been quite rare in CA. You probably come across one every few months. If I were not already up to my eyebrows with Kahlua and Clayden. I would love to help fostering or more... By the way, I was wondering if it is normal to take that long for the shelter to release the dog to the Rescue? I asked her if Panda was still available. She hesitated a moment and then said no he is not available for adoption because he is going to a rescue. See, this conversation took place yesterday. Panda was listed on 4/2, why did she say Panda is going to the Rescue but not has gone to the Rescue? That means Panda was still in the shelter as of yesterday. It has already been 4 days...  |
| Shelters want the first crack at adopting the dog. This way they get paid. Here dogs came to rescue for free but after the dog sat for awhile in shelter. Yes, we had a few kennel cough cases as a result. Rescues are not always Johnny on the Spot to get the dogs out as they need time to arrange foster care. I know one rescue here actually paid the shelter to keep the dogs as they had no foster care. You can see why rescues are "always" looking for foster homes, when there's a need, it is immediate. |
Ha! I can't physically help either!  All help is greatly appreciated! I sent Jane info on a little cutie pie the other day. From the sounds of it, they've gotten several in lately. And it's exactly as Susan says. Shelters will also sometimes allow rescues to put a hold on a dog until they can arrange to claim him or arrange for transport. Thanks again, Gigi. |
