Another Year Older

Last year at this time we were at the Dairy Queen feeding Isaac an ice cream cone. When people commented about the shaggy dog eating a cone Jim replied "He's 12 years old today! We figure this will probably be is last birthday we get to celebrate so we are spoiling him today." Well, he proved us wrong! All year long we gauged our calendar by "he made to Memorial Day. Now maybe he'll make it to July 4th". Over Christmas we said the same thing about him seeing in the New Year. We started celebrating every small holiday even! Well, today is Isaac's 13th birthday. And what a year it has been. I didn't know if we'd make it thru the winter with all the horrible cold, deep snow & thick ice. But what a trooper he was & today my "old man" (as I affectionately call him) turned 13 years old. Moving around slower due to arthritis in his spine & a bit more cautiously as his depth perception is going. But he still wants to do everything himself & be part of the pack. Such a patient, sweet & gentle guy. I always called him my "southern gentleman". Well...............
