Goodbye My Friend, My Sophie!
She came into our family at 1 yr old through an advertisement in the local paper "Free to a good home". Ultimately she dispelled the myth that you get what you pay for. What a love. At 3 yrs. she began to show painful signs of hip dysplasia. After a few Remadyl and daily doses of glucosamin she stopped showing signs of pain and ran and jumped, played, went fishing and camping just fine. Next came incontinence when she slept. During the routine urine tests the vet discovered elevated protein levels in her urine. The first signs of kidney failure they said. Low protein foods mostly home cooked and homemade cookies from oats and rice flour with some added goodies like veggies and some fruits seemed to satisfy her for treats. She would stay in the kitchen the whole time waiting for the batch to come out of the oven. Sophie always acted like a puppy even up until a few days ago. Age and health issues finally took their toll and she knew it was time to go.......we will never forget her and never stop loving her. A better friend will be hard to find. | We are so sorry and devastated by the loss of beloved Sophie. She was our dear Hannah's littermate and we were fortunate to have met that special girl. You gave her such a wonderful life. She was very loved and well treated. And I know because of her health problems a challenge to care for, as is our Hannah. But worth every single second. I loved to hear about how she enjoyed running in spite of her hip dysplasia she was still very active, playful and young at heart. Big tears in Las Vegas today! A very hard loss for us too. I so wish you didn't have to go through such a huge loss. But to have had the love and joy of our sheepies for any length of time is worth the pain of the loss many times over.  |
