This other forum is dedicated to the writing and discussion of on-line fiction. The reason it was suggested was because so much discussion had been going on about rudeness, bullying and people having the idea that they were somehow entitled to authors writing exactly what they wanted, the way they wanted it. This kind of behavior has had the effect of driving many people away from sharing what they write. "Author Appreciation Day" is to be celebrated by leaving positive feedback for a minimum of 10 writers. It occurred to me that one of my 10 should be said here . OES.org isn't about fictional writing, but many generous and knowledgeable people have literally written entire books-worth of useful sheepdog/dogs-in-general information here. They are sharing their knowledge, experience, and funny entertaining stories absolutely free-of-charge. Often the most helpful and experienced of posters get the most flack and nastiness in response . Thanks to all who continue to write helpful and thoughtful posts, giving us sheepie-owners an invaluable source of information. Thank you to all who generously share their personal stories of life with their beloved dogs, from the funny to the heartbreaking. Thank you Ron for doing a fantastic job of running this site. |

Laurel, that is such a great idea! And pretty cool of you to send one out to your OES.org friends too |
What a great concept! Not only is the writing that they share provided free of charge to anyone who would like to read it, member and non-member alike, but it: 1: Helps sheepdogs! Well groomed and well trained dogs, healthy dogs, better breeding and all the rest are the result. 2: Funds the operation of the site (including some charitable donations). 3: Provides information and links to great information to people in the process of making decisions about a puppy purchase, Old English Sheepdog and non-sheepdog alike. 4: Makes this a fun place to visit, and a tremendously rewarding place to run. THANK YOU! |
If not for OES.org and the educated, thoughtful, and caring individuals who take the time to write and share their knowledge here, I don't know what I would have done these past three years. Any question, problem or trouble I had, I could bring here and the "authors" on this space would be there for me, with answers and support. There have been times when what was written may not have been what I wanted to hear. But thanks to people's honest opinions, I was forced to be a better owner, to research my decisions and back them up to people here that made me be the best dog owner I could possibly be. I love OES.org, and all the people that post here. All of the "authors" on this site have helped me and my girls, and I hope that in turn, I have helped others too. Big hugs to the "authors" and their un-compromised voices! We may not always like what is said, but when it is said with genuine caring and love, how can we not help but listen? |
There are not words enough to express just how much I appreciate this forum and all of the posters here. You have all been a wonderful source of information, help, support, and kindness. My only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner. |
A huge thank you to all my mentors!! Where would we be without all the support, insight and collective wisdom found here?? And to Ron for making it all happen |
Thank you!!!!! |
LOVE OES.ORG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CONTRIBUTES TO THIS SITE!!!! |
How wonderful Laurel! Thank you for starting this thread! Where do I even start to be able to appropriately express my gratitude and sincere appreciation for this forum? My Oliver is now 4 years old and this forum has been with me, supporting me, crying and celebrating with me with the ups and downs in not only Oliver’s life, but my life as well. My Oliver and Lucy are beautifully groomed because of the people who take time to post on this forum, they are happy and healthy because of the suggestions, prodding, and reviews from the people on this forum. I don’t just own two dogs, I have the pleasure of being blessed with two fur-kids who have taught me more in life than graduate school could have ever taught me…and the people of this forum understand and respect that. This is not just a forum, but a community of people who were brought together by a common interest. You are not just a picture, a sheepdog owner, or a username to me…you all are my dear friends whom I trust and look to in times of emotional need. I look to you each day for a smile, a laugh, and yes, sometimes even a good cry. Thank you for being there for me when I need it. I only hope I can be there for you when you need it. Ron, you make this community possible and I cannot thank you enough for it! |
