The ads appeared on the Austin TX Craigslist today. Quote: http://austin.craigslist.org/laf/2257310873.html Black and white Old English Sheepdog (Wells Branch-Pflugerville) Date: 2011-03-10, 2:13AM CST Reply to: comm-caezw-2257310873@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] I saw, what I am pretty sure was, a black and white Old English Sheepdog on the right side of Wells Branch headed towards the HEB on 1825. This was around 1:30am. I stopped, but it just ran away into the field. I hope this is helpful. * Location: Wells Branch-Pflugerville * it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests PostingID: 2257310873 http://austin.craigslist.org/laf/2258221965.html Quote: Re Black and white Old English Sheepdog (Pflugerville) Date: 2011-03-10, 1:59PM CST Reply to: comm-9rxjx-2258221965@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] People dumped that dog last Monday or Tuesday, he won't come to anyone... is terrified. I thought Sheepdog also. At least he is still alive and seems to know enough to stay out of traffic. * Location: Pflugerville * it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests PostingID: 2258221965 |

i live 5-10 minutes from that area-- i just saw the ad and am going to see if i can find him, hopefully he's still OK... sheepdogs are an uncommon sight in austin, and to hear of one who was DUMPED when so many people would gladly take the dog in is truly despicable. |
Thank you! I was hoping someone might be in the area. I also sent the ads on to OES rescue for the same reason. I don't know if animal control or humane societies there loan out live traps but it might be a way to capture him if he's terrified as described. You might drop a note to the person who said he was dumped to see if they actually saw someone do drop him off or if they just surmised this happened. No matter what happens, thanks so much for caring. |
Fingers and paws crossed that he is found safe and sound! |

I should explain why I said this... maybe someone is looking for him. There was another ad on Craigslist today... a lady trapped the neighbor's cat and either set it free in the country or took it in to a shelter to surrender it. It would be sad if someone dumped the neighbor's dog. http://austin.craigslist.org/laf/2259244073.html |
Hooefully tick magnet has some possitive news for us.........................waiting with hopes of success |
I emailed the person that posted he was dumped. We are still in search of Sir, the Beardie that was lost in SD BUT, you never know if the dog was dumped off where he may have come from! I hope whoever he/she is will come to somebody! |
Thanks, Kathy! |
THis is a better description of the dog that I received in the email reply! Really nice man that emailed back "It could it guess be a bearded. I've only seen him or her from maybe 30-40 yds away. My first thought was a younger old english or Tibbetan or Bearded collie. It does have a the look of an old English, coal black and snow white... no gray. He looks very well groomed too, recently. His eyes are visible and also his mouth, so face is trimmed pretty short. As for the tail I want to say yes, fuller than an Old English's. He kind of floats in a cloud of white fluff when he runs. He was just dumped off about a week 4-5 days ago" I hope he comes in to somebody |
**UPDATE** They finally caught the fuzzy fella An ad was placed on CL I think and no owner called The man that saw him get dumped told the man that found him, he probably wasn't going to get a call. Which is ok too because, the man that found him wants to keep him!!!!!!! |
Thanks for the update! That's terrific! |
OOOOH that makes me so MAD!!!!! We are pretty sure our Charlie was abandoned, and had been abused. He still on occasion ducks from our hands and absolutely freaks whenever anything is sprayed near him. I don't know how people can just dump animals like that! But we've been blessed to give Charlie a second chance and it sounds like this guy will get his happy ending too! |
I have Monty a furever foster (due to his fear issues will bite) We have had him 3 years and he still pees if you say his name too loud He is a pawfectly happy boy and I can kiss him all over as he trusts me but, he was certainly abused somewhere along the line! |
Was he a sheepie? |
Thanks for following up on this baby! |
