Going to Las Vegas

We've been a few times and stayed at different places. I've been reading the reviews and am not impressed. We are going late April or early May.

We will not stay at Circus Circus, Luxar, Treasure Island, or anywhere downtown.

Where did you stay, what are your recommendations, likes and dislikes.

I'm no help as the last time I was in Vegas I was 13. Just wanted to tell you to have fun!

The Venetian, or the Wynn. If you want to be away from the strip, Red Rock or Green Valley Ranch. We go a couple of times a year. ;o)
I like the Luxor...At the top of the strip and kind of quiet...We have also stayed at Mandalay Bay~~I would love to stay at the Belagio or the Venetian next time...Have fun!!! and GOOD LUCK~~~~ :clappurple: :clappurple:
I think it really depends on what you're looking for and are willing to spend. What do you plan to do while you're there? Gambling, shows, other activities? I've gotten some great cheap rooms at MGM and we had a pretty good time but I way prefer the smaller setting (but still on the strip) and just overall feel of a place like Planet Hollywood, which is just a lot more fun and hip, especially if it's just a weekend. I like Treasure Island as a hotel but I find the gambling and overall fun factor blah (other than the getting married on the pirate ship part). We've stayed at the Mirage and the Bellagio just for the poker rooms. We've also stayed at Bally's, Harrah's and Excalibur simply based on the fact that the room was dirt cheap but I found the atmosphere in those places terrible. I don't want to see families in Vegas. I like the Venetian but it's a kind of an older crowd for us. Mandalay Bay has a lot of stuff right to do in the hotel and connecting areas but it's way on the end of the strip so if you like to casino hop, you're doing a lot of traveling. Sometimes I pick the hotel just based on if I want to see the show there.

I'm kind of thinking about booking a trip right now now that you've got me thinking about it.
MGM for us was dirty cheap as well and we spent a little on a nice room and I loved it there. However, Mr. J's parents who are traveling practically every month didn't (they're older and just thought it was crowded...which wasn't my experience).

We both love Bellagio, but it wasn't as convenient to me as the location and amenities to staying elsewhere. Lacking places to eat.

Ditto Jo. We LOVE the Bellagio, but about starved to death for lack of good restaurants close by! All about the food.
I love the Venitian and Belaggio too. There are so many great restaurants in Vegas. If you are in or going to MGM, there is a wonderful Mexican restaurant I never miss while in Vegas.

The reviews on the Luxor have not been good. We stayed their once about five years ago and although we had to traverse "The hallway from hell"(long) I didn't dislike it.

I was thinking Mandalay Bay...Dh does not like that idea.

Isn't Belagio the one with the fountains? On one of our trips we went to watch but it was too windy. I will check that out, also Planet Hollywood.

Here's a few more ?'s: Have you stayed, or heard of anyone having a coffeepot in the room and do you know of anyone who deals Blackjack from one deck.
I thought every hotel in the world had coffeepots in the rooms. And as far as one deck blackjack, good luck. I'm sure that doesn't exist. Good luck finding a $5 table (last time I was there, minimum was $10). Maybe downtown.....
1 deck blackjack, yikes. :cow: heck, used to play that in laughlin, but they quit that there also. think it was fifty years ago give or take a decade or two.
now you've reminded me of the old days and free junkets.

Nope, they absolutely have one deck blackjack: Treasure Island, Planet Hollywood, MGM-- I think most of them do. However, there's usually only single deck table running so you have to get in there early. If you're a morning person, get there early for $5 but usually you'll expect to pay $10.
thanks jill,
guess i'll save up and go back. 8)
The past few times we have stayed at the Four Seasons - located on the top floor of the Mandalay Bay and loved it. Room prices are comparable to the Bellagio and Wynn - but the rooms are much nicer and the customer service is incredible. The pool at the Four Seasons is relaxing - and you also have access to the MBay pool if you want more "action". Breakfast outside on the Veranda patio is one of my favorite things to do. We have stayed at the Bellagio and the Venetian and not been impressed - we found the rooms to be pretty typical and well used. The only minus to the Four Season is that it is not in the middle of the strip like the Bellagio - however, they have a hotel car/driver you can use--- I think in a 20 mile radius ----free of charge.

One thing you should think about doing if you haven't already is to ride to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris in the evening and watch the Bellagio water fountain. You can stay as long as you want - it is a different perspective of the fountains.

Hope you have a wonderful time ;)

$600 per night is NOT comparable to the Bellagio or the Wynn-- at least not the basic or middle of the road rooms! I wish I was rich like you, lol.
