A true Winnipeg moment

We usually BBQ all year round, but haven't had one since the Christmas break. So, before getting the BBQ going my hubby had to bundle up, and shovel a path through a four foot snow drift, all the way to the BBQ. When he brought in the grill to clean, we first had to run hot water over it to remove some ice that had formed, but now we're good to go.

The steaks should be going on shortly.

Mmmmm, BBQ goodness, and the windchill's only minus twenty six. We had flurries earlier, but now the sky is clear and blue. Perfect day to grill a couple of nice thick steaks!

Trust me. It's a Winnipeg thing. We NEVER wait for nicer weather for anything. I think that portion of the common sense parts of our brains freezes off during our first winter as an infant, and from that point on it's all good.

Good for you!

Same thing here, except we had to move the grill along side my garage for Todd to plow after the last storm. We forgot to pull it back out, and with a slight thaw, then the refreeze, it's stuck!!

And yes, they sell charcoal in Minnesota year-round!
you win tracie,
i thought i was the griller, no matter the weather, but i wouldn't open the side door at -26. :cow:
Um...-26 doesn't even get us a windchill warning in these parts. :excited:

And the steaks were GREAAAAAAAAAAAT! :yay:
We don't think it's suitable weather for BBQing until its over 70 degrees but we'll happily grill into the 100's.
aww live in Winterpeg, sounds like fun... NOT, I will take the +8 weather in Nova Scotia :-)
I love a good steak any day BUT....I am with Mim!
-26C is 14 F.......yeah, well within BBQ weather.....especially since it was wind chill. Find a wind free spot and the temps would be almost balmy........
I think that's minus fourteen, but I still agree...well within balmy BBQ weather for us!

:twitch:
Yep, you are right, it is -14F......OK, they are nuts up there, that's below my tolerance anymore.

Of course here everything would be frozen anyway, water pipes and the gas company would have closed down the system like the did for the GroundHog's day storm, so the BBQ would be the ONLY way to cook.
I'm thinking as long as your fellow didn't wear shorts while firing up the grill he's still considered sane. :crossed:

He didn't did he?

Marianne
Good for you! Hope you enjoyed the steaks!! That is a little colder than we deal with--well a LOT colder actually- but we enjoy grilling year round here! Rain-Snow or Shine it is always worth it!! Of course I am not the one standing out there grilling my jobs are the indoor ones! :D :D
