What you need is a swiming pool...it allows not only your dogs to drink out of it, but the grey herons, night herons, snowny egrets, cattle egrets, blackbirds and the stray duck to do the same !
Actually, Sam is afraid of the pool, but I have caught her taking a few licks... I have seen some fresh water machines at petsmart, but never really studied them. I have 2 water bowls, 1 in and 1 outside and change them constantly. A doggie water fountain would be nice! |
We have always used a kiddie pool outside for the dogs too. My girls aren't outside for long periods of time anyway, but my parents dog is all day and he loves his pool. It needs to be dumped and hosed out every night though to prevent bacterial and insect growth, and then just refill it every morning and try to find a shady spot for it. |
I'm putting a barrel and a water pump in Beau's outdoor area for when he's outside. It isn't technically "fresh" water all the time, but it does circulate the water constantly so that it doesn't get stagnate. It's actually made so that you could use it as a small fish pond, but there won't be any fish in his!! LOL
I don't know how it will keep it from getting too hot, but it will be in a shaded area, so maybe that will help. Then, of course, I'll change the water out frequently, too. |
