Should we be trying to floss them? Is it safe to use a waterpic if you can get your pooch to allow it? Bring a raincoat! |

I've thought about the WaterPik Also the electric toothbrushes! Floss, ain't going to happen...and come away with all fingers. Please tell us how it goes |
I'm just glad my regular vet is reasonably priced I use the little finger cot toothbrushes (when I remember to brush ). I was getting lots of fuss and resistance with a couple different types of toothbrush style brushes. Now with the little finger ones I can do every single dog in my house.... I go right down the line.....(washing it between dogs and reloading the paste) I have a chicken flavored toothpaste now, and I think it barely has any smell at all. Its a dark green gel. |
Shameless plug here...the enzymatic toothpaste works very well for dogs and cats. I highly recommend the Poultry or Beef flavored as dogs seem to LOVE it! The finger brushes are great and the company I work for even sells a glove-type version. A natural version of toothpaste is also on the market, but I honestly think the enzymatic versions work better. This being said...nothing works better than a big chew toy or bone. For real good chewers the rope toys work great. Lucy's teeth are beautiful because she's a great chewer. Oliver on the other hand I have to brush his teeth. I also use an enzymatic spray once a week. |
Well, make the plug! |

Pleeeeese! |
ron, i don't want thrown off either, but could you please videotape flossing the dog if you ever do? thanks. |
Sergeant's makes a great poultry and beef flavored item. Oliver and Lucy love it! They also carry a spray that I use for Oliver. It's sold under the Sentry HC brand. |
Jennie - can you show the enzymatic toothpaste ingredients? Thanks I am home from work now...my toothpaste isn't chicken - it's peanut! (still virtually odorless, but they like the taste) It's called Four Paws Pet Dental. I have those finger toothbrushes - love them. Have you ever tried the gloves? Are they single use or reusable? |
and I bought the 3rd product shown - the paste in a little pot. I see why they say to use the gloves - this stuff is kind of stiff and waxy. I need to clean my little finger ones (brush) well between dogs. I'll let you know what I think - only used it a few days so far. |
