I have a 9 year old Old English sheepdog that needs a new home. She is registered but i cannot find her papers, but she was fixed as a young pup anyway. i am going through a divorce and lost my house and the people who were so graciously taking care of her cannot do it anymore. Her name is Lillie and she is a great dog who will make a loyal friend for the rest of her life. Please call me at 816-365-8984 if u are interested and i can meet you at the house she is at right now. i am at a loss and may have to put her down if i cannot find a home for her. Thank you.

Thanks Jaci, I will forward onto Carol. 9 years old...how sad.
I hope she will consider rescue. It would be terrible to put down a pup who sounds wonderful and has a few more years of love to give. :(

Thanks, Jennifer!
I also sent rescue contact info to the owner.
I talked with the owner this morning. There is a family going to look at her today, but if they do not take her MoKan is next on the list. Thanks so much for posting Jaci!

That's great news. Those older dogs are so deserving.
Our basset foster Harley was 11.5 when his family had to give him up. He has a home with us for as long as he lives, he will be 13 next month!
Thanks for following up on her, Jennifer. :D

I have to agree with you, Dawn. Puppies are adorable and fun but
these older dogs have so much to offer! Bless everyone who has
opened their home and hearts to an ol' dog. :hearts:

I remember not too long ago when the plan was still to find a final home for Harley. Glad he wormed his way fully into the Dawn pack, I hear it's one of the best places for dogs to be! :high5:

Forget the dogs, WE want to live there too!!
 Yes, Harley's here for the long haul.
When push came to shove, we couldn't imagine making the old boy adjust again. I just don't think he has it in him.
He's all settled in and here to stay.

And seriously - you all should consider fostering or even adopting a "mature" dog. They really are EASY and by far the least disruptive dogs to add to your family. And they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you! :hearts: :hearts:

I totally agree, I love the oldies, so wise and settled and just want to smell the roses, instead of ripping and tearing them up :-)
Introducing Lillie. She is safe at Carol's house.

She's very cute.
I'm so glad she got rescued

Lisa Frankie and Mattie
I'm happy she was rescued, but at the same time I feel bad for her because she had to leave her owner and I feel bad for her owner who had to say goodbye to Lillie even though she worked very hard for her.
aww. I have tears in my eyes - from reading this post (and reading the one of the oes/st bernard). I know things in life becomes difficult at some point but I'll never understand why people give up their dogs after having them for so long? People are "stuck" with children indefinitely - how are pets different?

anyway- yay for Lillie for going into a better home.

Don't feel bad for her owner, karma got him for a reason  . Just be happy that Lillie can live the rest of her life safe and happy.

Am I missing something in this post? How did the owner work hard for her? All I can see is that she was threatening to put her down via a notice on craigslist.
^^^No, you are not missing anything Jill. I won't elaborate, but Lillie had a rough life. She maybe 9, but will know love for her remaining life.

That was what I had gathered from reading the posts, too. That ad alone told me that that person put very little effort EVER into making her dog's life better. If you can sum up how much your dog meant to you and throw in a threat to kill her in under two sentences, you're doing something wrong.
