Depends on what you want to do......time-wise......(sorry) I enjoy meat kebabs, country of origin doesn't matter: Korean, Mediterranean, I don't care. But it takes time to prepare and then cook. Maybe easier would be crock pot meat balls. Most of us need to eat better, so plenty of fresh veggies or maybe a veggie based dip? Ever make caramelized onion focaccia? Caramelize 2 whole onions thinly sliced in butter and olive oil. Then take a frozen bread dough, defrost, roll out. Top with provolone, then onions and more provolone. Depends how think you can get the bread as to number of servings.......oh yeah, don't forget to bake it. Fruit salsa with cinnamon chips--homemade from flour tortillas. Texas caviar........made with black beans and a homemade salsa. Wonder what Paula Deen would make: Chicken Nuggest with honey mustard dipping sauce, sweet chicken bacon wraps, sesame chicken strips, coconut shrimp with orange marmalade....once again , how much time do you want to spend. |
I like the classic cream cheese and taco seasoning dip...the one with shredded lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, green onions on top. I always do salsa on the side. Serve with tortilla chips for dipping. It's easy, and always a hit. |

This is a recipe from my "Pre" Weight Watcher days. It is tried and proven on numerous occasions as a great appetizer. Party Franks: 1/3 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup catsup 3/4 cup whiskey 3 1lb. packs of hotdogs cut up into 1/2 inch long pieces. Simmer uncovered about 1 & 1/2 to 2 hoursuntil sauce thickens. That's it. |
It is often the easy recipes that are the best. Bob's franks sound creative, make it an even cup of whiskey and drink 1/4 cup while waiting for the sauce to thicken. |
I think Sheepieboss has taken a really good recipe and just sent it over the top! |
stuffed grilled jalopenos are good. stuffed with cream cheese then grill/ 7 layered dip. nice and easy. refried beans, shredded cheese, lettuce, green onions, jalopenos, sour cream, salsa, whatever else you can think of to throw on there. hot wings are good and easy. get a big pack of peel and eat shrimp at costco or samms . |
I always make easy crab puffs - takes less than 10 min to make frozen pastry sheets (I love Trader Joe's) - cut in squares (with a pizza cutter or scissors) or use cookie cutters mix 1/4c mayo with 1/2c cream cheese squirt a little lemon pinch of salt & pepper mix - toss in fresh crab meat (1/2 - 1cup of crabmeat - to your liking) dollop on the squares, bake for 20 min or until pastry is brown garnish with scallions the guys loveee it. so so addictive |
Bacon Ranch Cheeseball: 3 strips of bacon, cooked, drained, cooled and chopped 1/2 packet of Hidden Valley Ranch powdered Dip Mix 3 chive stalks, finely chopped 1- 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened 1/4 - 1/2 c shredded cheddar cheese Chopped walnuts or pecans Crackers Mix cream cheese and HVR dip together in small bowl. Add chives and bacon and mix. Stir in cheddar cheese. (I add more cheddar to reduce the stickiness of the cream cheese.) Form into a ball and roll in chopped nuts. (I use walnuts, as I'm not fond of pecans.) Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Serve with crackers. I made a double batch, one for my Ladies Nite and one for hubby to take for the guys. The women went crazy for it, and hubby called to say that the guys loved it too. It's been a HUGE hit everytime I have served it. (Hubby makes me set some aside before serving, to make sure he gets some. ) Laurie and Oscar |
Pickled jalepenos stuffed with peanutbutter. Taste of Home recipes has this weird thing, if you like corn, sweet and salty combo...not high on my list but: Quote: Ingredients 3 quarts popped popcorn 1 package (15 ounces) Corn Pops 1 package (15 ounces) corn chips 2 packages (10 to 12 ounces each) vanilla or white chips Directions In several large bowls, combine the popcorn, Corn Pops and corn chips. In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt chips; stir until smooth. Pour over popcorn mixture and toss to coat. Spread onto two 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pans. Cool. Store in airtight containers. Yield: 7-1/2 quarts. They also have individual pizzas made on English muffins...caught my eye. Meat is ground beef and italian sausage cooked and crumbled then several different cheeses. Italian spices....don't remember red sause but I'd add a dab. |
Thank you all...they are sounding yummy!!!!!!!! |
