Tuna

I was trying to think of a treat that would be different for my puppy to encourage his recall. I was wondering can you give puppies/dogs tuna.

When training I took a pkg. of hot dogs...cut into small pieces and microwave for 4 minutes....they LOVE it and vet said wasn't bad for them. I know a lot of trainers use them. Also cheerios...they're small and not bad. Both my dogs will do anything for hot dogs...I do buy the Hebrew all beef and use paper towels to take grease off after cooking.
Tuna is fine, if not a bit rich. Try to find something that is more dry and thus easier to handle. I'd think tuna would be messy in the pocket or treat bag.
Cut up hotdogs are good, also some chicken breast cooked and cut in small pieces. Mine also like most of the prepared soft treats - the little bite Bil Jacs are a winner with all of mine. The various salmon treats are good and smelly too!
I have a recipe for liver brownies they all go gaga for as well. :D
Liver brownies sound interesting. Nothing could be more important than baking a batch for my visiting grand pupper :hearts: . She's in need of new treats
Hope you don't mind my posting the link to your recipe, Dawn? I searched the threads and here it is:

Oh yes, that's fine :D

They do need to be frozen in small packs, as they are moist and will spoil before you can use them all otherwise.
My sister feeds her dogs tuna on their food once in awhile as a treat. Be prepared for some stinky gas and loose poop. :sidestep:

I dont give mine any people food, 1 to keep them from begging or getting food off table and counters, and 2 because my chocolate lab has such a sensitive tummy even ice makes her throw up ( but she can go out and eat dog poop  ) anyway, mine just get milkbone dog bones and dog treats.
When Bailee was in training small pieces of cheese were his biggest motivator. That was a year and a half ago and he still goes coocoo for cheese.
They actually sell Tuna bites from an internet store I order from frequently. I think they call them bonita something. Like Charlie Bears - round but are dried tuna. My dogs love them!
The interent store I get them from is the same one I get my wholesome hide rawhides. Petextras.com

They also sell cookies/biscuits that are only 22 calroies a piece. Nice size heart shaped biscuit. I ahve no affliation with the sotre other than I like what they sell :D
