I am also in the Northeast and feel your pain! I have found that keeping them groomed and mat free helps with the snow balls. We also dry forever after a romp outside and those dam snow balls don't ever seem to melt! Since I've had them trimmed and "dematted" the snow balls are easier to melt. There are boots and leggings you can try to keep snowbalss at bay. we. hoever, have not been successful with ether of those ideas I know somewher I read about spraying Pam on them before they go out. However, I found that made them greasy and slippery. Looking forward to any other ideas the snow people can give! |
When Chewie was a pup, his 1st winter I used a boy's long sleeve t-shirt. Tied a knot in the hem up on the back to keep it from creeping forward. After I found it worked, I bought several (at the thrift store) of the correct size. I stitched them to fit in place of the knot and they really worked well. Cut down on so much snow. Not the best picture, as it's a dark green shirt against his black puppy coat - |
Socks and suspenders to keep them in place for the rear legs along with the long sleeve t-shirt for upfront. Dog boots. Doggie rain suit Next time put the dog in the tub and run warm water over the snowballs, they melt much faster. |
Oh another use for SOCKS!!!!!! I slip on a pair of my riding socks on Bella and away she goes. Lots of elastic in the socks so they stay up and boots stop her from wearing through the bottoms. She does look a little goofy but damp hair is better than snowballs. |
Thanks for all of the ideas..we are going to try the tshirt socks and suspenders..he is already used to wearing tshirt when watching football |
