I've seen ads for him off and on. This is the boy that slipped his leash on the way back to his new home in October. I'll email you with the info. Hoping someday he'll be returned. |
I thought it sounded a little familiar! Had you posted it before? Geesh, I may have talked to them before |
I don't know if I posted about him... I did send it via email. |

Hi. I'm trying to help out a stray dog I saw this morning and googled missing old english sheepdogs. Am contacting owners as I can and thought I'd also post on this board. This morning on my commute to work I saw what appeared to be an OES, stray, unattended and beyond dirty and matted, along the tow path in Titusville, NJ, across from Washington's Crossing, PA. No owner was in sight and a dog that dirty doesn't happen overnight. I was unable to stop due to traffic, but will be driving by again on the way home and if I see him/her will see if I can get the dog. If anyone on this site is missing an OES, I'd suggest you go there ASAP to see if it's yours. ...even if you live miles away. ...even if it's been years. You've heard stories of dogs being reunited years later. I hope this starts a story of a reunion.... This breaks my heart that I couldn't help right then and there Feel free to email me at mosiello@ptd.net. I hope somehow this helps the dog or that I find it tonight. |
Thank you for posting. Please let us know if you are able to get the poor baby picked up If you need assistance please feel free to post here or email. I can help you get in touch with somebody if you need help Thank you |
I am so bothered by this. I wish I could have stopped and gotten it, but I'd be over an hour late to my job and can't lose my job. I spent the morning searching for lost dog notifications. Called one and the guy didn't even want to be bothered to go look, but told me the dog's name if I catch it. Frankly, if that's his, he's not going to get it back. Can't trust an owner not willing to even LOOK for their furbaby. I cold use input on anything unique to OES behavior. I have pugs so, they're small and easy. I doubt I should be fearful of an OES, but let me know. Also, if I catch it, I'll take it for grooming and take it home until rehomed. Will let you all know. |

Thank you again for putting so much effort into this poor baby. Yes, OES can very much be fear biters, as with any breed. If he/she has been neglected or out on the run for a while this may very well be the case. The way to most OES's heart is TREATS! Of course that is not always an automatic trust winner Please let me know if I can do anything from here! My email is carolinasoes@gmail.com and my number is on the web site if you need immediate assistance Good Luck! |
If I don't see it, I will go again on the weekend and bring treats and take a very long walk looking for it. Thanks for the info on fear-biting. Helps to know. If I had to bring it home, would it be best to sequester it from my puppy? Does it have any prey drive? |
hi, the fear mode can be unbelievable even in the friendliest breeds. hi-value treats are best and the best i've seen for drawing a longtime lost dog in is kfc chicken. if the dog is afraid leave it and then try to work your way to him. if you can't, leave treats and come back when you can. and thanks, only wish i was closer. |
*I* wish I had stopped. But what was I supposed to do? In these $ times, gotta keep the employer happy. |
I live in NJ---Hunterdon County so not that far away. If you need any help or have any questions, you can contact me as well. There are other NJ OES owners on these boards as well who would be willing to help out. I do get the Home Again notices for the area, and haven't seen any LOST sheepies. I will check on Craigslist too to see if anyone is missing one. Poor baby. Let me know if you need additional help or if you do locate the pup... Shari |
Thanks all. Send your prayers the dog's way. |
Any news on the little baby???? |
thanks to jerseygirl's efforts and email to animal allies, everyone is on notice and the hunt for this dog in the area. |
I'm going to be in New Hope for a wedding Friday/Sat and I will take a look around too. If you get it and need a hand, even with the shave down, please let me know. I live about 45 minutes south of Washington's Crossing/Titusville. |

Was this him? This dog was on craigslist but up by Far Hills and Bernardsville. Seems like a long way to go from Titusville, but, I thought I would check. http://cnj.craigslist.org/laf/2683069514.html Found him on rt 202 between the train stations. Please call 908-328-5127 Kind of could look like a filthy sheepie if running around and you were driving by. |
Isn't that a BC? It looks like it has a top knot in! |

Hi. Haven't seen the dog since, but the area was alerted. The rescue shared with me that the area was without power and that there was a chance it was a situation of an electric fence wasn't working and the dog might have been from that immediate area, gone to walk where s/he normally would with the owner. Who knows. No word from them that a dog in that area was found but did what was possible to help it.... Yes, the dog could have looked like the one above from the distance. There was something in my gut that said it was an OES though. And as we know from the posts above, that wasn't the same dog.... What does BC stand for? |
Thank you for all of your help! I'm glad this one found his way back home! It does look like he has a top-knot and BC stands for Bearded Collie. They are often mistaken for an OES and vice-versa....since they have similar coloring and characteristics. |
