It just seems like there's not many Sheepies (at least not in this area...maybe it's different elsewhere?), so maybe some are related. |

Actually, you may be interested to know that ALL our oes are related. The foundation stock of the breed consisted of only 2 stud dogs, who were related, and we think only 4 to 6 females, also all related. Since it is strictly a man-made breed, all oes were created by first breeding various breeds together to create the desired temperment and working abilities, and then taking the pups from those matings and breeding them together to fix that type.
I have done extensive pedigree research, and can trace my own dogs all the way back to the first OES' , Wall Eyed Bob and Sir Cavendish. Wall Eyed Bob was born in 1885 or 1887, there is some controversy on the date, since he was sold 3 times in his lifetime. |

How did you trace his lineage back? I've been looking online trying to dig deeper into Jasper's, and I keep coming to a standstill. |
If the pedigrees are well recorded they can be traced... it takes a lot of digging, talking to breeders, following lines back. OES don't go back very many generations really, but did you know a 30 generation pedigree contains over 2 billion names? |
Is that 2Billion Canadian or US? |
That's how I found out more about Clyde's line. I started with his parents and found out where they came from. Later I got his papers and traced back even further on the internet. It took a lot of time and I may have missed a few but it was really interesting to see where he came from. I was really interested in finding pictures to get an idea of size. If it's any indication, he's going to be a big boy! He has some beautiful relatives too. I'll bet we're all related closer than we think! |

Wow, 2 billion? That's a lot! It'd probably be pretty easy at first, because a lot of the kennel names are repeated. I guess it's kennel names anyway. |
