We have a wonderful 5 yr old sheepdog named Rufus...he "wrote" a story about the inner workings of the canine mind It's a cute gag book (imo)...it's basically repeating pictures (implying that a dog thinks of the same things morning, noon, and night ) It can be used as a journal or photo album... I've been trying to get the word out on the book on my own...so that brought me here! Here's a cute video I made for you tube re the book-- Dr. Rufus A. Sheepdog is on the cover--cute Check it out: http://www.thegoodnewscafe.net/a-dogs-life.php Thanks, Cathy http://www.thegoodnewscafe.net |

Welcome. Cute! I'm not sure I get the concept of such a gag book, but you clearly don't misrepresent what it (or you) are all about. I hope someday you come back and tell us all about Rufus! We'd love to read your stories here, too. Ron |
Thanks, Ron! You asked, so here goes...Rufus is our 5 yr old sheepdog--we had another sheepdog years ago before we had kids...but he was an outdoor dog and my husband and I worked a lot...so we didn't get to spend as much time with him as we do with this one...we all just love this guy--he's very smart (compared to other dogs we've had) and has many funny little habits and things that he does...we live where it's hot, so he stays inside year round, but does love to romp around outside. He also loves to swim in our pool--his best exercise in the summers! How do I post a picture...I see the img thing above but don't understand how it works? BTW, and also since you mentioned it ...the idea of the book is that it is presented as a real in-depth look at how a dog's mind works by an "expert"--it's obviously a joke from the start as the "Dr." on the cover is a sheepdog with glasses the introduction implies that the dog's mind is complex and that Dr Rufus will enlighten us by going through a typical day for him...what follows are chapters: Morning, Noon, and Night--each chapter is filled with repeating images--things that I imagine a dog thinks about...and then there's the conclusion that explains the "joke" and that expresses admiration for a dog's uncomplicated view of life...there is a paperback version but it was priced way too high by iuniverse...so I created my own ebook version for a buck I printed and bound my own and put additional pictures of Rufus in it I actually got the idea from hearing about a book that was titled something along the lines of "What Men Know About Women"....full of blank pages Let me know about the pictures and I'll send you Rufus What's your OES's name? |
Gotchya. You can upload pics by clicking on the "My Photos" link at the top of all pages (near the oes.org logo). You'll have to log in once there (be sure to check the box to keep yourself logged in) and then clicking on "Upload File". Instructions on how to link a photo into a post are here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=1119#p6605 |
Thanks for the info--I put a few pictures on the "1st Portrait" albums... |
