Simon has a hot spot

I thought this afternoon Simon "might" have been limping. I walked him a little in the house and didn't notice anything.

Around 6:00pm there was definitely limping. Get the flashlight and look at the bottom of the foot. Between the toes its red. Get the clippers and clip the hair out. Yep, its a hot spot.

I don't like hotspots but I'm sure Simon hates them.

When DH comes home we are going to have to tie this dog down  and really get all the hair off and wash it down and warm compresses and call the Vet in the morning.

   I really don't like hotspots.

Ouch, poor Simon. And you.

Hope it settles down quickly and easily. :crossed:
Hope it doesn't turn out to be like what Chewie had... :(

This was after it was shaved, lanced and 1.5 days of antibiotics and antifungals

It was all wet, shiny and hot-spot looking before that.
Ewwww, I HATE hot spots! Between the toes is so difficult to deal with, especially with snow...good luck!
Oh, yuck! Some is really going to hate having his feet played with after this.
He gets squeezed into the Vet at 11:20.

I have to say I'm a little worried. He's still limping and holds his paw up when standing. He's not licking at it anymore and its perfectly dry. The toe and in between is red and looks a little swollen.

This is mommy obsessing.
Ice cut?
Simon has a puncture wound complete with pus. Ick.

So the next 10 days are pain pills and antibiotics.

My thought is he found another nail from when we had the roof done this summer. The last one he found, in his paw, he came into the house and then pulled it out.
Poor Simon! With the correct drugs on board, he should be right as rain in a jiffy. I'm sorry he has a boo-boo, but glad to hear that it is not a hot spot.

I think you need to hook Simon up with a magnet on his belly, so he can start earning his keep picking up nails. With the magnet, not with his paws!

Dogs can get hotspots in the winter? Where? How? What signs does one look for?
Sam has a horrible hot spot on his left elbow. the vet had to shave it and it's 10x worse than we thought, which makes me feel bad about not being attentive to my babies!!!

We noticed Nola has one too. I wonder if it's from the dry air???
Before taking Simon into the Vet's I looked up hotspots online and they can develop and spread out REALLY fast.

They showed a Golden who had a small hotspot under the ear, in the am. By pm it had taken up the whole side of the face.
