As some of you may know I'm a teacher at an elementary school. Our school community is filled with wonderful families, but money is very, very tight in the area. We've been fundraising for six years to raise cash for our playground, and have about fifteen thousand dollars. We need forty at least. Grants have been applied for, and we've been approved, but then told that the "pot" is already spoken for...try again next year...and the next and the next. Our structure is "grandfathered in" and in poor shape. It has not yet been declared unfit for use, but is well on its way. Our playground has a single, sad, lone tree. So, we're on the Pepsi site (yes, it kills me, I'm a rabid Coke fan), hoping to get a ten thousand dollar grant. Voting goes to the end of February, and the top vote getters receive the money...so if anyone can spare a moment or two to click on our idea, we'd be most appreciative. I believe you can vote multiple times per day....but it may be once per idea per day...I'm not totally sure. You sign up (free) and then you're in. I've put in the link below. Thank you so much to anyone who can help us out. http://www.refresheverything.ca/westvie ... playground |

just voted...can we vote everyday???? great cause!!!! |
Quote: (just voted...can we vote everyday???? great cause!!!!) Yes, you can vote each day. I've set up all my email accounts there, so I can do one vote per address per day. I know it's a long shot, but our parent council and community have worked so hard for so long...and since we can only use CSA approved (and logically so) playground structures the cost is unbelievably prohibitive for our community. The PC has been putting all their funds raised toward this goal, so we've had to cut down on field trips, wish lists, and other materials for a LONG time. Many of the parents who started this initiative when their kids started Kindergarten now have kids in jr high. They've worked really hard, and sacrificed, so every little bit sure helps. Thanks so much! |
Voted!!!! That's such a sad story!!! Can we donate? My husband and I have no kids and are willing to part with a little extra dough for a good cause! |
Voted I will post to Wayne and get him to vote too. Oh and my Mom. I hope you get enough cash soon. |
New OES Mama, That is a very kind and generous offer. Our kids and Parent Council (and me too of course) would all be very grateful. I'll PM you later today about it, if that's okay. Thank you so much. |
