Sounds like something she may end up chewing. Never really thought about paws getting caught. Love the idea of the fitted cover, much neater than the sheets and blankets I have used. |
I have 2 different sizes of fitted covers for wire crates. I have the ones from Walmart (they actually are decent quality and a great price!) One is Maggie's crate - the coonhound who needs her nesty place and she loves the fact that it's dark, as she's a nocturnal girl and likes to sleep in. The other is smaller for rat terrier Riley's show crate for rally. He's kind of wimpy and the covered crate makes him more secure and able to rest in his crate better. I've bought the crate pads that have a bumper built up around the edges, but you are talking something separate, right? Just around the edges? And - below is a picture of Maggies crate (the one on the left) with the cover. Harley's crate on the right just has the ole sheet cover! It's not the best picture, but I think you can see it |
Dawn, you do a good job with the sheets! I can hardly tell the difference. It worked out great with the bumpers and new fitted crate cover. All three pieces are seperate. There is a fitted crate cover, a quilted crate matt and then the bumpers - the bumpers are one long quilted piece with velco that you loop through one of the wire pieces and it holds. She loved it! I put her regular blanket and pillow in there so there would be a familiar smell and she slept like a baby! I got mine on Amazon and was much cheaper than the "real" crateware. For the 48 inch crate I think I paid about 45 bucks total. Now I have to get another set for the other dog AND for the car. I think the cover and coziness will help ease their anxiety while long distance driving. And the reason I even thought about it was becaue my dog did get her paw stuck between the wires. No damage done to her ( or the crate ) but she let out a squeal that was chilling! |

Are you talking about the "Base" of the crate? If so mine came with an insert tray in a hard durable washable surface. Babette is a scuncher too with her bedding and with out that tray OUCH I am sure. Also great if potty training or sick and an accident happens, remove the tray and just wash. This is hers, just starting to scrunch the bedding but you can see from this photo the tray that rests onto of the base wires. By the morning she has all the bedding squished to one side in a big humpy with her head resting on top, but at least she cant get her tootsies caught in the floor mesh under the crate. Also has two openings, side and front which is great as to where you want to set the crate up as to access in and out. |
