what will happen if I click delete all board cookies at the bottom of the forum? Will the world end, or the forum or will I cease to exist? When would I want to click it? Sorry I'm just an overly curious soul! |

It will delete the cookies for the forum from your computer only. It will delete the cookie that keeps track of your desire to remain logged in. ......so you'd have to login again. I'm not sure if it is right away or next time you visit. It may temporarily affect the highlighting of unread posts. ....... so you might not be able to tell if you've read something already. Although I believe that I also have the forum save the read/unread information for you on the database, so it might not affect you at all. Not sure. Other than that, I can't think of anything it would affect. All of which would be reversed the next time you allowed the forum to store cookies on your machine. Its most important function is if you want to log out of the forum so as not to allow someone to pretend to be you. But the logout button does that just as well! LOL |
Mim, I am pretty sure you'll have to uncork a bottle of something if you delete all cookies! And just to be on the safeside, better to uncork something even if you don't delete them! |

WHo would want to delete cookies?!? I love cookies! Are they a gross flavor? |
I did a good job of deleting all our Christmas cookies........boy do I miss them! Even uncorking a bottle doesn't make up for the loss. |
Does anyone remember the huge controversy about cookies and their privacy implications? Now half of the country posts their batchelor/ette party pics on their facebook accounts under their real names. |

Yes I remember but I didn't really get it back then and I still don't now, hence the question. I guess if you just lurk here and don't want anyone to know that you're a mad, bad, crazy person who hangs out in such unscrupulous places as sheepdog forums then maybe you'd want to delete all your cookies. I thought a good IT detective or hacker could find out whether you delete them or not. But I'm prepared to be corrected on that. |
Question to you all in the know, if you post a pix to the web taken with a cell phone with gps, doesn't the location of the picture transfer to the pix? Seems I heard about it somewhere. Very spooky thought........ |
Yes. Lots (most?) of smartphones record gps coordinates on your pictures in what is called the "exif" data. Most (all?) phones will allow you to shut that off, and there is software available that will allow you to sanitize your pic's exif data. |
