I was moving the cars around in the driveway, backing in my dad;s car so he can pull straight out in the morning. He's almost 85 and backing out the long driveway is difficult for him. As I'm backing the car up, my slipper slides off and somehow gets wedged under the break and I couldn't stop the car! I rammed his car into my car before the car stopped and I actually had to wiggle the slipper out from under the break! It happened in an instant and THANK GOD I wasn't going fast. Did some damage to the car but the thought of what could have happened if this was on a major highway. Moral of the story...be careful with slip on type shoes while driving! |

Good point, thanks for the warning. My DH nearly did run into the back of a car while driving. He was wearing flip flops and the heel end bent backwards and jammed the brake. He had to swerve off the road and just managed to get his flip flop sorted and brake before he hit a parked car. I've also read about it happening with unsecured floor mats in the driver's foot well. |
also have to watch the good ribbed floor mats that are good for catching mud and dirt, as they also can catch the heel of shoe. |
I live in clogs, but there are some I just can't handle, I've fallen out of a few...winter time I must be very careful. Car incident sounds very plausible. |
I live in Crocs, I have summer & winter versions. I have chronic foot problems and have yet to find anything better ( and I've spent hundreds ). When working as a trauma nurse I found a few other name brands that were comfortable but easy to fall out of, but I could not find anything better than the original Crocs. |
